What if you could flow from your 1st style to the 2nd and back? What if you could go from you 2nd back to first, then to your weapon? what if you do this and do it in more ways than one?

This is the premise that I started with to try and think of a way to add even more depth to the gameplay of MK:DA. I loved the way the style flowed together in DA but I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, I want more than just one way to combine the them. One way, the only way I've thought up so far, that this could work is by making the weapon stance accessable not through a simple button press, but in a way more like MK4(Ex. d,b+4). The SC button would be used to toggle between 1st and 2nd stances as normal, but some pre-set combos could flow freely beween the two. If this were to happen it would open up possibilies for other Style combinations.

Ex. Kung Lao: Mantis->shoalin->mantis or shaolin->mantis->shoalin. mantis->shaolin->broadsward(old-school), shoalin->mantis->broadsword.

With the amount of combos MK:DA already has, coupled with this, the amount of moves would double.

Another idea.

I read somewhere, or maybe its those damn voices in my head again, that they were going to try and implement the "pick-up-weapons" idea for MK6. It's a stretch, but imagine picking up a weapon with its own basic set of moves, combos and specials(power-ups, tauts, etc.) and starting a combo. You could do the use the weapons pre-set moves or opt to drop the weapon in mid combo and continue the assault with a character specific combo.

The possiblities would be endless.

Christ. I think the game is complicated enough to get used to farless for that. lol. Some branch combos are hard enough to pull off with what we have already, farless for another button to make it go backwards.

Well MK has always used the d-pad for movement so why not an anolog direction for each style? Up Left and Right. That way there would not be the restrictions of style branching that there are now, although the original method of style branching would still be applied, ala the left trigger buttons.

I think you should be able to go back and forth between styles, say for Quan Chi do a combo starting in TSD, go to Escrima, Broadswords, back to TSD, Broadswords again, Escrima, and then finish in TSD. I guess you could hold a button on the dpad to go to a different stance than the next one, like go straight to Broadswords from TSD. Actually it seems like the AI in MKDA does that sometimes. But insanely long branch combos, though I'd like to see them in the game, should be "hidden" so to speak, in other words you couldn't find them out with the moves list, you'd have to discover them on your own; and the AI would only use them on hard and max settings. Plus I don't think the amount of combos per style was very balanced in MKDA, so I think they should try to balance it a little more, so each style has plenty of combos.

Repost that in the MK6 wish list thread. Maybe Midway will see it, hope hope.

I got an idea while reading your post, asmodeus...

I agree it would be very cool to switch back and forth on styles and choose when you want your weapon, cause there are situatoins you just don't want to use it. Instead of a button combination (d,b+4), I know there is at least one unused button on the controllers, so how bout (ps2 for ex) L1 switches between the 2 hand-to-hand styles and L2 toggles your weapon on and off?

Just an idea, but I would definately go for this...
