By allowing Deception to be Online Compatible, does that mean that memory that could have been used for more characters, stages and modes was used for making the game online?

In other words, does making a game online compatible sacrifice parts of the games memory that could otherwise be used to add more content to the game, or does online simply mean what it is...online?

I don't want to be an ass and say how i dislike online (after all this is the first online fighter and it will most likely kick @ss) but if online means 20 characters and 12 stages as opposed to NO online with 24 characters and 15 stages...i'd probably prefer no online...just a thought.

OMG, if that is true, I hope they KILL online!!!

I rather have one excellent Mk game with improved gameplay, more characters and levels and stuff, then online.

Lol...I was thinking the same too at some point. Do you also need a fast modem to have a good connection?

The HDD is out, so I would say by the time MK:D hits the shelves it may even take full use of the HDD. If they do, they could litteraly keep the game going forever with "patches" that add new characters, costumes, attacks, possibly even stages.

Even if they don't use the HDD (god I hope they do) all Online settings are stored on your memory card and all other things such as character data for online and such would be stored on a server provided by Midway. The only thing the game itself would really have on it that has to do with online playability is the option to do so, and probably the steps for basic set up. Believe me thta is no where near enough data for another character. MAYBE one special move for ONE character could be added if they abandoned online however the attack would have to have no special effects (lightning, fire, warping the surrounding area etc). But if they do take full advantage of HDD just think of the friggin possibilities. I think that is well worth the cost of possibly one special move being lost. Because even if it is, they could just put it in a patch for you to download to your HDD :) Good stuff.

I hope they use the Xbox and PS2 harddrives.Instead of only adding new costumes like Dead Or Alive 3 they should add new levels, fatality's,Missions in Konquest mode,.

It's not impossbile, but adding a whole new character would be a task. I'm with ya though, there's so much they can do here, to my knowledge Midway and the MK series has the chance to be the first fighting game to take advantage of the HDD drive.

well.. what will happen.. is that when u select the online option the game will play the same.. instead of making sending graphics to console to console.. what it will do is just imput commands.. think of it like the virtual java script engine.. tells it what to load and images from other places... tada.. no degread..

It was my understanding (and what I've seen from other online games) that making a game online compatible doesn't take much... especially on the xbox... I was under the assumption that it isn't much different than making a game LAN compatible - think of the amount of information in HALO for example - not much missing from that.

Online feature is really important. I believe the most important and this should be a number one proirity no matter how much disk-space it sacrifices. I dont think it takes that much disk space anyway for online compatability.

hmm.. to me they should get rid of the online play.. thats just me though and probley some users feel the same.. since i don't wanna have anouther online bill in my life... come on.. mabe if they let me hook my router to the ps2 and thats it... eh... allwell.. i feel online should just be for pc.. since everyone has a pc and internet..

why do you wanna pay for anouther subscription service that cost as much for a cable modem subscription for your cable comp. for your computer...sad
Chill folks. MK:D will not use the hard drive. And yes the online features will use more space on the DVD discs. But ...

There is no way they would fill a whole 7-gig DVD with Kontent, and I promise you that online features will be far superior to anything else they might add in the place of online features.

I know the XBL service costs money, but does it cost money to connect via PS2? I was under the impression Sony wasn't charging for connection service - only for the RPG games like EQOA.

kill online? fuck that noise. i dont care how much they would have to get rid of.

mk needs to go online. i dont care if mk6 had 3 characters, i want it online. cause i hate when little punk bitches come to these forums and talk shit saying how they are better than everyone else..this will put an end to that bs..cause now theyll have to put their money where their mouth is.

I have XBox live, and its great. I mean money is going into it, it better be great. Don't be too surprised if Sony starts to charge one day. I'm gonna love playing MKD with other broadband people, and be happy with the lack of lag.

What would the average joe do (ME) to get mortal kombat up and running online? I have absolutley NO experience with getting console games online; hell i can't even do online games with ym pc...

Whats all this talk about HDD, or hubs?!?! I have a router, but i can't use an ethernet cord to plug into my ps2, can i?

I have a feeling it will cost a few $$$ to get Deception online...

actully if u own a router is so much better.. since the network adptor for the ps2 is going to use your excisting line.. you just have to put cat5 cable to get it running... and do the disc.. thats it simple.. but i don't own a router yet.. and well i don't think i will.. besides.. i am hearing alot of problems about hooking the darn thing up and get it running..
