Cage and Sonya...
| jokerjoker Wrote: About the story issues, I wont even pay attention since there are like more then 24 worst stories so far in characters who have huge potential but keep doing the same stuff like Kitana, Raiden, Cyrax, and especially Scorpion. About Cage, all I have to say is that he has added one awesome feeling to the game and that will always have a part in the heart of MK. Even though his story is lacking of originality, it can still change for the best. Cage is one awesome model who cant just be thrown away to the garbage. He has potential, reason why he has lived so long. About Sonya, she has everything a powerful character needs to be loved and be popular. She is the main female fighter and has some amazing special moves and fatalities. She is definitely considered a must in the game, no other character has evolved in special moves, speed and power since MK1 like Sonya has. |
I agree!
About Cage I dont care much, I can live with or without him. He has lots of cool pros to hold on.
About Sonya, well: is she a must? duh! She is too important and extremely powerful! Best female chick of the series. She and cage actually have potential, and being originals help them even more. I think Sonyas story was about to begin with her ending in mkda.

They're bringing back Jax but not Sonya!?! That's bullshit!" Cage, I can do without. I like him, but not enough to care if he's in or out. But if Jax is back, then Sonya sure as hell better be as well. I like her so much better, and I think many fans agree from what I've read. |
Agreed also! Sonya had better be back now that Jax is in MKD. She is a lot more important than he is. And Cage can do what he likes. I don't care for him at all.
I like Cage! I think he will always be part of mk, he is a cool original.
As for Sonya, like I said before, no other female has ever gotten my attention as much as her,a nd since Im not a big fan of females that says a lot. I think she, out of all the original characters along side Scorpion and Subby, is the most important.

As far as I'm concerned, neither Cage nor Sonya really needs much of a good story for me to like them. I've loved them both since MK1, and personally I don't think they need the most elaborate storylines to justify their inclusion in a game. Earth's in danger, Raiden calls for help and Cage and Sonya do their part in ensuring Shao Kahn or whoever doesn't conquer Earthrealm, and that's it. I mean, it's not like they'd be all "Hey, man, I'd love to help, but since I'm not part of 7 plot twists, I'll just stay home and do nothing instead".
This is of course taking things to an extreme, as they could arguably be replaced with characters defending Earth who also have more storyline importance, but IMO Cage and Sonya will always be great regardless of what their story might be.

Around the time that MK1 came out on home systems, Ed Boon was asked about some of his influences (I believe this was in Gamepro) for MK. One of the biggest influences, if you didn't already know, which I'm sure most of you do, was the Bruce Lee flick Enter the Dragon.
Enter the Dragon had Bruce Lee (Liu Kang), a movie star (Cage) and an ass kickin black dude (Jax). Hence the reason why a movie star is in the MK series. Also, Jax was supposed to be in the first MK game if people recall, but they decided to go with a woman instead. So instead of saying that Jax should've been Sonya in MK:D, maybe say that Sonya should've been Jax SINCE MK1.
I'm not saying that Cage should be in MK:D. He shouldn't. But neither should Sonya in my opinion. I understand both of their roles just fine, especially were the influences are concerned, but ever since MK1, I've found both of them to be two of the most boring characters in MK. Just my opinion though.
So yeah, let Cage sit out a game, revamp him completely, and bring him back for MK7. Sonya...I couldn't care less if she never came back. Jax, well, he's in MK:D now. If they can just...umm...de-homey-tise him somehow. Make him more military like someone else said. Or even do away with the military thing altogether, get rid of those retarded metal arms, and just give him more throws (bring back the quad slam and the gotcha grab!!) perhaps he can keep his lame story because people wouldn't care since he could be so fun to use again.
Whoever said that Jax was awesome in MK2, I totally agree. If that same person said that his lame machine gun attacks blew in MK:D, I agree as well.
Revamp Jax, revamp Cage for MK7, and ditch Sonya. Again, just my opinion.

I honestly think Cage is the best character in MK for many reasons, including this one: you either love him or hate him--there's no in between. There's no point in me trying to convince those of you that hate him that he needs to stay, because you won't listen, just like I won't listen to you. It's kind of sad/funny/whatever to see this much hatred for a fictional charater, though.
It doesn't matter, I'm almost positive he'll be unlockable in Konquest mode, even if he's not on the select screen. Same for Sonya.
