Can someone tell me what Boon does?

And I don't ask to rip on him or anything, I just honestly have no clue.

I see all these other guys credited with concept art, and sound, and design, and programming, and whenever I see Boon's credit it always just says "Co-Creator."

What the hell does that mean? I know him and Tobias co-created MK1, but thinking back, I've never really known what that meant either. I see Tobias' name on character designs and stuff, and credited in MK1 for designing Goro, so I know what he does (or did, rather), but what is Boon's job on it now? What does this guy really have to do with the game? Other then hang around and make sure Scorpion stays in it. : P

And again, I'm not asking because I want to rip on the guy, I just really don't know.

Lol.Boon has paid his dues.He doesn't have to do nothing but kick back and drink lattes and bark orders.He basically just oversees everything and lays the basics down.Either that or he plucks his eyebrows.wink

I dont know if he actually DOES anything...but if anything is gonna make it into the game he will have to approve it. He basically makes sure things are going the way he wants and that the game is turning out well....something any of us can do I suppose.

Boon is the lead designer and the lead programmer. Always has been since MK1. Most of the code that goes into the games is probably his. He does far more than just walk around seeing if everything is running smooth.

I remember that one extra in mkda. It was supposed to cover the average day in the making. Boon did nothing...just walked around. He didnt even mention if he does anything. He even got there when most the people were already there....prolly left early too. I think he might proof read, but doesnt actually write any code.

Ditto, though as being lead programmer, that job description does include doing a lot of walking around and making sure everything else is falling into place. He's sort of like George Lucas is to the creation of Star Wars. While the main ideas and concepts are his, the majority of the grunt work is done by others, and he has the final say.

He and John Tobias the original games together.
That makes them CO-Creators.

Thats sad how Boon is left with the legacy and Tobias went on the make some other junky game never to be linked with mk again. He had some good ideas...but just like the character Noob Saibot hinted, Boon always came first.

in the last game they showed that video so people think boon is doing something. That's true he laughs his way to the bank but today in that Darrius bio he said "he has these gauntlets, I THINK he is the only one that has this"(the words are not exact but he said something like this).

and now they took Tobias out completely by making the NOOB-SMOKE. I think SMOKE-SAIBOT sounds better

Boon did all of the programming for MK1. Now, MK is a big enough of a franchise that he doesn't have to program.

I suspect he puts input in on character direction, and He obviously had to make the decision about the three styles fighting system, since no one else has the authority really.

I wonder how much money Boon has; do you think he's a millionare :P
Ed does the programming and Co-Created MK... and he looks like someone really weird and who would bite u if u offended his eyebrows

Hi, I'm Ed Boon, the co-creator of MK and the project lead for MK:D. To break it down, he assisted in the creation of MK and now he is currently the boss. The Boss usually oversees everything and if he has input, he will tell his employees to make it happen. Easy question, easy answer.

He's the creator, basically he's the creative mind behind alot of the things in MK, I'm sure he has help from the development team. I wish i could get them to develope my game.

Boon is a Midway employee, just like the rest of them. I'm sure he gets a nice salary, but I doubt he's a millionaire. Lets not forget, even though he came up with MK, Midway is the one with the rights to it. I doubt he gets any royalties, etc.

Doesn't it kinda say something to you guys that the ONLY thing Boon has ever posted at MKO was in regards to some MK Smileys somebody made?

There are tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of pages and pages and pages and pages and pages about seriously amazing gameplay topics! And boon has the ignorance to post about a fuckin icon!

A lot of people think that Midway comes here for fan input. That might be true in one case or another, but really, the content added to Deception was just stuff they couldn't finish in time for Deadly Alliance. Oh yeah, and kombat puzzle and fighter chess... Whoopdeefuckindoo!furious

I agree with the guy above me. He does stuff. A lot of stuff. Give Boon a break ppl. If he wasnt there then this would never happen. There would be no MK at all. Praise the man, dont bash him.
