Capoeira is an artistic open form giving more way to athletic prowess, speed, and training. IMO that fits Tanya perfectly.
I would want Tanya to have these 3 styles:
- Capoeira
- Iuna
- Cha Quan
If she isnt able to have Capoeira, then perhaps Angola. IMO it fits her nicely.

Yeah, I think any of those styles could also fit her great.
I'm not sure what nationallity she is. she is dark complected but that could be a number of different nationalities. So she may not be black at all. Still it shouldn't even be an issue.
Hmmm., Styker with Capoeira? Not sure about that. I see him with a more police tactic fighting style, ya know something that deals heavily with defense and restraining. Maybe some military techniques as well? I think his style should be more like Leon's from DOA. That's just me though.

I dont think MK really says what race each Earth characters is. It always just says "earth". Tanya is edenian. Just because her skin color is a little brownish doesnt mean shes black.

Bingo! That's exactly right.

A little brownish...the woman was cleary black by Earth terms. Like a black Edenian.

Black or not, Can we please get off of the race issue and back to the thread subject? How bout we just say she is a good fighter discuss what styles she can have? This isn't a thread about Tanya's nationality it is about Capoeira as a fighting style for her and other fighting styles that would be good for her. Please stay on track here. Thanks

I agree with tomtaz. Why do you all keep bringing up the whole racist stuff?? Shes edenian her skin color brown and thats final. There is no such thing as black people in edenia. Its a whole different world its a "FAKE" world! It doesnt matter what she is!

It don't really matter what color their skin is, it's their abilities as a fighter that counts. And I agree, Tanya only looks a little dark and I was surprised when people claimed she was black. But anyways, if Tanya uses Capoeira as her fighting style she'll be a tough opponent to beat.
And the Styker-Capoeira thing was just a joke, I also think that he would have some type of military combat style.

I think Tanya having Capoeira as a fighting style could boost her oh-so-low popularity quite a bit. You saw what it did for Eddy Gordo when he was introduced in Tekken 3. Almost everyone I know used Eddy in Tekken 3, while I used the Mishima guys a lot, and even I tried Eddy once in the arcade, and found that his style wasn't just for show; it also made him easy to use. By now, all of us certainly HATE Tanya simply because she was a "filler character", or because Midway ditched Kitana in MK4 in favor of her. That could change rather quickly if she has Capoeira in MKD.

Capoeira as a style for Tanya would be pretty sweet, but after sseeing Eddy in Tekken it's a bit off putting unless they can make it less cheap! With the MKDA fighting engine though, I think it would be pretty balanced so it probably wouldn't be a problem. Nice thing, TomTaz.

They should forget giving caperoia to Tanya, and bring back Kai with improvements. He was the first MK character to have that style, so Tanya having it wouldn't seem right to me. Mind you, apart from Quan Chi, Kai was the only MK4 newcomer I ever liked.

Agreed.

Thanks. Yeah Eddy was a little on the cheap side, but like you said the MK fighting engine is different and I think she'd be more limited than Eddy was in Tekken.

Capoeira: yes.
Tanya using it as her style: no.
i dunno. the style just doesn't seem to fit her character. it would be more suited for Jamacian and/or other black guys. personally, i've always thought the style was more suited for guys anyway. women, especially Tanya, deserves a more graceful and dignified style like Kitana's Eagle style. she is afterall the daughter of an ambassador.

You don't have to have been a slave to know Capoeira. Anyone can learn it and it has become more popular as a dance these days. I mean Eddie Gordo wasn't a slave, but he knew Capoeira in Tekken. You see how silly that sounds now? But about the topic, GREAT IDEA! I would LOVE to see this style incorporated into the game. Kick ass.

I thought Kai and Fujin were kinda neat. Im very dissapointed how Boon turned his eyes away from MK4's characters. IMO, they were better then most of the new fighters from deadly alliance. Hell, now that im on the subject, Mavado was the only one that had some real potential as being a new character, but that was fucked up by his stupid specials. I hope Kai and Fujin will come back in one of the future installments because they were unique characters (unlike that bastard scorpion whos in every game) and they had excellent potential.
