Capoeira is a fighting style I love in my fighting games. Be it La Mariposa of DOA, Tiger or Eddy in Tekken, or any other misc fighting game that hasa master of the brazilin art of dance-fighting. But where is this represented in Mortal Kombat?
Even games like Eternal Champions had Trident.
So where is the Capoeira? My guess is that if they do decide to encorperate this style in full swing on the new fighting engine, Kai is the man to do it. With his handstand attacks. Unfortunately it seems as though Kai will be given a different style.
So my question is, will Capoeira be present in Armageddon, and if so Who would be the best character to pull it off..
And also will you be as angry as I will if Armageddon is Capoeiraless...

Capoeira is a style that I hope actually appears on MKA and if it does Kai would most likely have it. But if it actually is in the game then you know what style my KAK will have lol.
I think capoeira would fit Havik. It seems chaotic with all the jumping,
headstands, flipping, and jumping.

Havik could rip apart with cap... Picture the fluidity of cap... but add the bone breaking capabilities of chaos. I smell new style!

Nah....... I think Kai should have it.........Havik should have a weird fighting style that involves his body flying off and attackin his opponents lol

My original thought was, give Capoeira to Cyrax.
But I have since changed that and have agreed that Kai should have it.

capoeira fits Kai perfectly, I agree 100%
He had those hand attacks in MK4 so it makes sense if he have them again in MKA

Kai should definitely have it though I totally agree... The concept of Havik with it is nifty. But Kai is the man for the job. Hopefully Boon realizes this. And he gives us what we want.
This would give kai a better identity. Accentuate his individuality, make him more than the static character he was in MK4... But time is gonna tell...

Capoeira wouldn't work too well in an MK game. MK's fighting mechanics are simply not deep enough to really portray a style like that. And besides, I'd rather see him using something like Ditang Quan, Stone Monkey, or something else.

Hmmm, I would say yeah but Ninjitsu fits Cyrax more. But if you give him a style thats a fusion of Capoiera and Ninjitsu then that would be pretty cool.

i could see it appearing in mka, however i would not be mad if it did not..
also, i believe kai would be a solid candidate for cap and i feel like sonya could use this style..

No, just no...
First of all, it's spelled Ninjutsu, not Ninjitsu.
Capoeira + Ninjutsu for Cyrax = bad
Ninjutsu fits Scorpion the best out of all of the MK characters.
Capoeira wouldn't work too well in an MK game unless the fighting mechanics were deeper like in other fighting games.

That is true that the fighting mechanics are not in depth enough to facilitate true capoeira... What i was hoping for would be at least 1 character to have cap influences. At least broaden the horizons of the existing styles...
We have beaten the horse to death on the subject of the Simplistic mechanics of MK.
I guess this thread is more wishful thinking, There are a few styles that cant truely be represented such as Judo and Capoeira. The mechanics simply do not allow for that. But If not armageddon then MK8 should address this issue
Having said that... I would still like cap represented in some way, shape, or form. Be it a hybrid style or just a few kicks he and there that can portray the illusion of a capoeira trained fighter...

I've never played DoA 4, but I thought La Mariposa was a Luchadore, not a Capoeirista.
I'm wondering if you'd be able to create a (at least passable resemblance to) Capoeira style with the Kreate-a-Kombatant

Shit, I forgot to mention that.
Yeah, she does Lucha Libre.
I don't know about trying to do a Capoeira-ish style in KAF. That might be rather hard to do.

Capoeira would rock in MK, but yeah it probably couldn't work well with the current fighting engine due to the lack of depth.
Hopefully we will see it in the next gen MK.

The "martial art" that commits the gravest error of leaving your gravital point low. Yeah sure, it is fine and artistic, but not combative. Never was.

Well, just watch Christie doing moves in Tekken, and then watch any MK... And if they would actually put Capoeira in MK:A, and make it smooth and fast like in Tekken, that character would pwn anyone. Because other styles in MK has 2 seconds between every move... grin

Capoeira is an amazing to watch, beautiful looking, extremely fluid fighting style.
I shudder to think of it being in MKA with the ugly character models and jerky animation. Maybe next-gen when it can be represented decently from a visual standpoint, but not now.

Capoeira is my fav martial art of all time.
I've been hoping for it to be in MKD... I'm SURE it will be in MKA though.
I must admit I never thought of Kai (probably because he's the character I care least in MK) but I admit this style fits him perfectly, because of his handstand move.
He could become amongst my top favs with that style. I just hope it's in MK.

since when is capoeira a shaolin form?
kai (to my knowlage) was a sort of shaolin monk. i think he was in the same situation as liu and kung at one point.
and about cyrax, he was a member of the lin kuei, chinese ninja equivilent's would have almost no business other than curiosity or a stealth mission with the ability needed to blend in for an assassination.
no use whatsoever without introducing somewhat of a new clan or character, not meant to be in MKA, maybe next gen

Kai was not a shaolin to begin with If i remember correctly I could be wrong but didnt he seek out Kung Lao in order to become a Shaolin Monk, Then MK 4 happened. I see it more than possible that Kai could have been trained in Capoeira preMK4
