Ever since Mortal Kombat had become 3-D I have always wanted to CG movies before and after each fight in the game. It would be able to clearly explain each characters' storyline and show why the two opponents are fighting.

An example of this could be something like a Story Mode. If you choose Sub-Zero you will see what happened to him after MKDA and what his purpose is in a CG movie. Then when you go on your quest to beat the boss you run into other characters and a video would come up and then a fight would happen. Please, tell me what you think of this idea and if it should be in the new MK game.

I'd settle for CG videos after you beat the final boss. I'm surprised they didn't do that in Deadly Alliance. But yeah, the Mortal Kombat story is so out of whack anyway, it'd be nice to have scenes to tell the story better.

Yeah, we were expecting half the game to be cg cinematics but the pics were o.k. They probably didn't have enough time cause they were trying to sort out the fighting system physics. But since they've sorted that out and will be using the same engine again for MK6, they'll have enough time to come up with some cinematics. I don't know if the cinematics for the game were done by the same team though. In the games Industry they usually get other people to do cinematics, as they work on the games.

if they do bring back cg movies they have to do alot better than in mk 4!man they were so bad it was funny!
I am all for cinematics in games, but unfortunately I don't think we'll be seeing a massive amount of them in the next MK game. The reason for this, quite simply, is cost. Midway is currently in financial struggles, and cinematics (while cool) add very little to the game considering their cost. The opening movie in MK:DA cost right around $480,000 (U.S.) ... and most of us watched only a few times. For the same cost, Midway could hire 5 new artists to work on the game for a year, creating astounding characters and environments ... or 3 new programmers to allow for more consistent gameplay ... or a new game foreman to give a fantastic new gameplay mode. The possibilities are endless, and quite frankly I'm happy with still shots if it means a better game.

I think everyones on a CG craze because of Tekken. They have nice full motion video endings... like you i am all for it.. but like you said that money could be spent elsewhere to make the game better.

They should definately bring back the CG videos for the next game. Those were so much more interesting to watch, like in MK Gold, than opposed to MK:DA endings-which weren't bad, but couuld have been better if they were CG.
