I'm really fed up with all those fake over the top fatalities once again in MKD... There are only a couple that I like and come close to the MK1/MK2 fatalities (Havik's Leg Rip, Darrius Arm Rip, Kobra's Decap Kick, both Sub's fatalities). Most of them are all over the top bullshit finishers... take Li Mei's decap kick for instance, they should have left the explosion out. Just let her do a fancy move to kick the enemy's head off and strike a pose, that way it would have been much cooler. The fatalities used to be the most shocking part of the MK games, now they're mostly just pathetic. People just laugh when they see a stupid fatality like Bo Rai Cho's, instead of staring at the tv screen with their eyes wide open. Keep the fatalities within reason and keep them simple...
Was wondering what the rest of u guys were thinking, maybe the MK Team will listen to the fans for once...
Peace

If I were you, I wouldn't do any finishing moves since they bother you so much. If you play online, close your eyes when someone does one to you.tonguetongue

Yeah, I agree some are a bit silly. I don't think I'd use MK2 as an example of good fatalities though. A few in that game were really cool, but the majority were ridiculous. Mileena's suck-in-the-body-spit-out-the-bones fatality is a good example of this. How many femurs does one person have anyway?(yes I know the answer is two. I figured I'd make sure everyone understood the rhetorical nature of the question before the more pretentious posters felt the need to chime in)
Anyway, all the games have had gruesome fatalities that had major shock factor, and ridiculous finishers that had more cheese factor. As for pure brutality, I've always loved MK4 Quan Chi's beat-the-guy-to-death-with-his-own-leg move.
And what the hell is with Scorpion doing the classic Sub-Zero? Where the hell was the flame fatality?

I think the shock effect wore off me.I know what to expect when the Background goes dark.I thought all of the fatalities were good except the Baseball type of fatalities.

i remember the first time i saw Jax's head smash fatality in MK2.. i kindof just sat there looking at the screen going "wow i REALLY got my ass kicked....and that was nasty..". All the fatalities in that game just seemed more realistic and disturbing, like johnny cage's torso rip, liu kang's dragon bite, sub-zero's ice grenade, etc... the opponent's lower half just kindof standing there with the backbone still sticking up in the air.. also, the little blob of blood that would spurt out of an opponent's neck when you decapitated them that fell to the ground and made a "blurrb" splashy sound was very memorable. the ultimate one however was kung lao's hat slice fatality, where the character would completely seperate down the middle and each half would bend in their respective directions slightly, showing bones inside still somewhat connected and brain matter sliced down the middle in the skull. crazy stuff.
with deadly alliance and deception, it's just not the same. when someone explodes (which happens in like 99% of the fatalities) it just looks like a bunch of popcorn and poorly made blood graphics, with plastic looking body parts that don't look nasty because there are no bones/ligaments or anything sticking out of them. an extreme example of what i'm talking about are the ridiculous and poorly done ways the characters explode on the prison stage death trap and the sky temple falling deathtrap. the body parts are just so static and boring... i also don't like the music that plays now during the darkening of the screen and the actual fatalities, it was much scarier in mk2.
but to DA and D's credit, i like baraka's head punch fatality and havik's leg rip wink

MK2 had good fatalities, but that was 10 years ago. Since then, theyve become pretty bad... eg MK3(Shang's bed of nails... wtf?), MK4 (Liu Kangs throw / fireball thing, Quan Chi's leg one...omg)/
Even MKDA had really bad and cheesy fatalities... Quan Chi's head pull thing was by far the worst. Anyway, the point is, after all these bad ones, why is anyone expecting to capture the long dead MK2 charm?

I haven't seen all the fatalities of mkd yet but from the ones I've seen, Kenshi's sword slash is just beautiful, I mean he cuts the guy in half, turns around, does some fancy moves, and then the upper torso of the guy just slides back and falls, soo cool, I also enjoyed kabal's slice in half too

I think it's worn off on everybody by this stage, which is partly why the current day fatalities "suck".
Everybody is always talking about how great MKII is, and how great the fatalities were. There were a hell of a lot of decap fatalities then, and some of the others were just plain average, but because it was back when videogame violence was just starting to hit it's social peak in terms of "oh my god!" factor, everybody thought they were great.
1991 - Sub Zero's head rip. People still seem to think that's great.
2004 - Scorpions head rip. People are bored with it, but it's the exact same concept.
Take Dairou's surfboard fatality for example, that's great. Original, bloody, fairly creative, and just generally well done. People probably won't compare it to the worst of of MKII's finishers, just because it didn't wow them. It didn't wow them because violence doesn't mean anything anymore.
MK is really going to have a hard time keeping up in the future if the same sub par gameplay keeps being thrown at us, because the gimmicky gore can only take the game so far, and I think it's pretty much at that place now, and you can tell by the fans reactions to these great fatalities (People were hating on scorpions MKD spear fatality, what the hell? We would have killed for those in mk2 or 3!).
Maybe it's time to hang up the proverbial bladed hat for good, maybe release one more super violent ,controversial game and go out in a blaze of glory while you're still on top Midway...

I don't think it's that... I think it has to do with the way they look. Look at the spinal column when Scorpion does the head rip, it stricks almost straight out of the victims head confused With this generation of MK games, I think we may wish for something that looks more realistic. If they would put in the Johnny Cage Decap Uppercut, I would just love it (eventhough it's a classic)... simple but gruesome.

BTW. If they had scorpion pull the victim's head off in the same way sub-zero does after freezing him... It would have been more realistic, gruesome and would have looked better on screen.
