five seals 'boxing academy' deal with midway games
Five has secured a major sponsorship deal with Midway Games' heavyweight fighting game, Mortal Kombat : Deception to support the channel s new factual entertainment series, Boxing Academy, it was announced today (WEDS).
The deal, which runs from 18th October to 15th November 2004, covers a package of five hour-long programmes, including the live final and the opening credits, closing credits and break bumpers.
Mortal Kombat will also receive accreditation on the extensive promotional on-air trailers as well as off-air marketing across press and outdoor.
The deal was brokered between Five's Business Manager, Chrissy Dawson, and Steve Smythson at Miller Advertising.
Matt Broughton, European Marketing Director, Midway, said: "Boxing Academy is round one of a major marketing campaign for Mortal Kombat: Deception, which hits shelves a few days after the live final in November. It's the perfect demographic for us and we re very excited to be involved."
Chrissy Dawson said: "We're delighted to have Midway Games onboard as sponsor for Boxing Academy, especially given that Mortal Kombat is one of the best known fighting games in the world."

Hopefully this will alert more people to MKD's release! I think the game will have good coverage given the advertisements for it too. I've already seen the UK ads! This show will help further show off MKD! Hopefully they'll give it some coverage and show footage of the game!
