Well I really like Kabal, Kung Lao and (Cyber)Smoke, and I also have been converted about Baraka (well I'll wait til I use him.)

But I've always hated Johnny Cage, Sonya and Kitana - none of which will be on the select screen!! I'm not a huge Scorpion fan, I liked him in MKDA, but I've always prefered Sub Zero and Reptile...

I'm thinking this belongs in either General Discussion or Classic MK Games Discussion. Definitely not Deception Discussion.

Johnny Cage-He has such a sucky storyline of just being a moviestar, not to mention I think his glowy green balls are stupid
Lui Kang-Do I have to explain myself?

People I hate that others love-

Mavado- Lame ass moves and had Kabal's weapons. Put that together and you have one of the worst characters in MK history almost, imo at least.

Hsu Hao- What was the point even? I mean, damn.

Drahmin- Again, what was the point? He had no skills what so ever, and was lame.

Frost- Had potential, but in the end she is just a female version of subby. Pretty much a clone with a new twist.

Bo Rai Cho- ...............Why Boon, why?

People that I have mixed feelings about-

Kano- I liked him in MK3/UMK3 but in MK1 and MKDA he was kinda lame.

Kitana- Again, I liked her sometimes and then sometimes I didn't. In MK2 I loved her, in UMK3 she was ok and in MKDA I hated disliked her alot.
Mostly why I disliked her in MKDA, is she relyed too much on defense and for a fighting game that is a bad thing.

Stryker- He had good moves and combos, but his look and story seemed out of place. A regualr fat cop just doesn't really fit into MK well. Maybe if he was something more then a normal cop it would be different.

Rain- He has potential and was very good in MKT. Just they need to make him not so cheap with his orb and turn his story into something better. Wouldn't mind seeing him in deception though.

Sonya- Not that I don't like her, I just hate how overrated she is. She is not essential to Mortal Kombat. She is not, nor has she ever been important to the story. Being the only blonde in MK does not equal best female character. Just because she wears pants doens't mean she isn't skanky. She really isn't that original.

Beyond that, I don't think the other characters I dislike are loved by many others.

I agree. And anyone who flames you for stating your opinion is clearly lacking in both intelligence and etiquette, so don't worry about it.

I personally hate Tanya more than any other MK character. She's a Kitana clone (and not a good clone like Mileena). She has a stupid story and a stupid weapon. She wears (gag) yellow. Hate hate hate her.

And, of course, there's Stryker. Possibly the worst character design ever. Okay, definitely the worst character design ever. But at least he's an original character, and not some crappy replacement for Kitana (for all the good that does him). PS- Nice avatar, XiahouDun. I'm a big Psylocke fan.

Baraka. He has a unbearably bad character design, almost no story at all(and the little that he actually has is uninteresting), and his role in MK up until now has been weak. He's not even that fun to play with, IMO.

I hate shang tsung, I don't know, maybe because of the name, and his outfits suck, the only one I kinda accepted was his mk3 one

I also don't know what's the big deal about cyber smoke, imo all the robots are the same, my fav is sektor, the rest can die EDI>T: forgot about sheeva, imo she's the worst character ever

I've always despised Stryker and Cage.

Stryker:Unimpressive attire ,equally unimpressive moves. Too normal/Generic. I'd like to see a hardcore ,full Riot gear version for a comeback.

Johnny Cage:I liked his moves but hated his story ,I mean if every time he dies ,he comes back. Then why isn't he the champion ,instead of being some washed up movie star. Either stay dead or change.

There are many characters whom I don't like in MK universe... By example :Ermac, Noob Saibot and Smoke: for me, the only trues MK ninjas are Scorpion and Subzero, all the others are or were only palette swaps... I recognize that in MKD, they seem all to have a rather cool and unique design, but too much ninjas in MK risk to kill MK, according to me...
( I didn't quote Rain and Reptile because the first one disappeared and the second evolved to become really original, but the remark applies for them too)
I hate Chameleon/Khameleon in part for the same reason too... Plus, they hadn't own moves...

Another character than I never loved is Kabal: I hate his look (Darth Vader is alive!!), I hate his story, and I don't stick on his moves... There is really nothing for me to save at him...

I also hate Stryker... That has nothing to do with the fact that he's a cop ( lol ), but fact that he uses grenades and a gun in MK makes him too realistic to have his place in the sun in MK... If he returns with a less harmless look and more spectacular moves, maybe I would change opinion but at the moment, he can burn in hell...


Bo' Rai Cho, him, "sins" by his behavior, he farts, he belches, he drinks, he is too caricatural... I am for the presence of an old master, but Shujinko is much better in this role...

I also hate Nightwolf and Blaze, because they miss originality:
-Nightwolf: was created in a period when to see a native American in a fighting game was a fashion (T Hawk in SSF2, Chief Thunder in Killer Instinct)
-Blaze: a good idea, but a too simplistic design...

CMETH-finally some 1 w/ half a brain. I know u hated kitana because of her relying on her defense alot in mkda, but this is the main reason y I loved her alot in mkda... I love playing defense. This is what made kitana so good in mkda... Lots of people say she sucked in mkda, but that's because defensive players r harder to play as. It takes alot, ALOT of patience... which u hate her for that and I respect that...but at least u recognize that u hate her because she was defensive and not like many others who say she sucked... thank you for having a brain!!!

I've always hated Noob Saibot and Rain. I never understood why people even liked them.

Then there's Reiko who I dislike and others like. And even Stryker has a fan base. He was fun to play as, so was Reiko but both lacked originality and a story.

Li Mei and Sheeva are also liked by many and again I don't see what they like about them. They're the only two MK females that I don't like.

I have to disagree with you regarding Tanya. I never understood all the kitana comparisons. She always played more like Mileena to me, with her Corkscrew kick and Flip kick moves being alot like the Ground roll and Teleport kick, and she was very quick but reasonably weak. She was my favourite in MK4, and other than the kiss of death, she has nothing to do with Kitana.
Also, Scorpion wears yellow and no-one complains.

My least favourites are: Scorpion, Smoke and Noob Saibot...they are all so overrated!

Ha nobody is game to say it but I am.

I only consider Scorpion around the middle of my favourites list.

I agree on Sonya as being over-rated too.

I wouldn't say I strongly dislike either.

I still don’t understand why people think TANYA was a KITANA clone .OH! I know why! Maybe because she simply replaced Kitana? Was it because the team decided it was best to replace that female for a better one?

If that’s the reason, that’s lame! Tanya was NOTHING like Kitana. Except for the Kiss of death fatality, Tanya was original.

Her character concept design was nothing like Kitana, she had a very decent and cool storyline, and her ending was superb! Her costume was similar but not enough to be considered a rip-off.

And look at Tanya now! One of the fans most favorite returning characters! She has proven that she is no Kitana clone, and she is simply a lot better then Kitana.

Back to topic I wouldn’t be sad at all if Scorpion and Kitana died a most painful death. Well, Scorpion keeps dying, so maybe it does not matter...but I think the princess will fall in this game.

Sonya- The character design is ok, but i dont liked her story. I think she should just die. She might be the original female but i still dont like her as much as other female characters in MK.

Jax- I thought he was ok in MK2, but after that i disliked him alot. Specially in MKDA.

You took everything right out of my mouth. I absolutely agree with you.

Sonya is one of the characters i consider extremely boring and pointless. IMO she doesnt fit in MK at all, nor does she feel like an "MK" type character. Her story is stale, and the whole special forces unit doesnt fit well at all in the MK universe. Her and the special forces dont play an important role in MK, there just flat out worthless IMO. It doesnt matter if shes the "original" female MK character, because shes "originally" the most boring and useless female that has a stale story and a poor-look. Just because shes original doesnt mean shes the best.

Besides Sonya, theres another female character i strongly dislike......and thats Tanya. The only reason she even exsists is because they decided not to include Kitana in MK4. I find Tanya to be very boring character thats pretty much just a filler. Her story is ridiculous and i will never understand why anyone can like her. We've already got Mileena, we dont need Tanya. Shes horrible IMO, i hope he dies in MK.

Stryker - Lol, i dont even have to give an explanation as to why i hate him, i think everybody pretty much knows.

Reiko - On some occassions, even worst than Stryker. He is the reason as to why people dont even like Shao Kahn that much anymore. IMO Reiko shouldnt of gotten created because hes just pointless.

Bo Rai Cho - Hes supposed to be a martial artist, not a fat guy who drinks and farts. He looks more like a LAZY bum. Shujinko looks WAY better for an elder, i'm glad they decided to put another martial artist who actually looks decent.

Hsu Hao - I dont hate his story that much, but i do hate his LOOK and design. He looks so boring and ugly IMO, not even like a decent Red Dragon member. IMO if hes still alive, they should totally revamp him and make him look more like a Mafia-Boss type character. His whole character currently boredens me.

Liu Kang - Lol, its been only 1 game that he died in, and hes back already? LAME. They should've kept him dead not returning. Zombie form or Ghost form, hes still considered RETURNING. I wished that they would finally get rid of him, i guess i was wrong.

No problem man. Also, just remeber, I do like Kitana, just I'm in no way a defensive player unless I see the attack coming. So in DA she was just too different for me, but in MK2 her moves made her very good. Hopefully she is in Deception and is maybe a mix of offensive and defensive styles. Only person I liked alot that was kinda defensive is Kabal, had to wait for the right time to use the spin move.

In a first place, I dont hate any characters. I think they all contributed to the MK story.

The characters I dislike are msotly disliked by many (Kai, Mavado, Bo' Rai Cho...) BUT the ones I dont like that other love:

1. Li Mei: Because they wouldn't bring in Mileena, they created her. I like the fact that she becomes a soldier though, because it gives her a more interesting story, and it leaves Mileena the place she deserves.

2. Jax Briggs: His MK2 appearance made him the lamest character ever... Although him having metal arms made him unique, I still never play as him.

Mavado= Kabal want to be boring lame ugly face bastard.
Reiko= His eyeshadow clarifies his love for young boys hes a pedo for sure.
Quan chi= boring boring way to cheesy.
Lei mei= Mileena knock off
Frost= female subzero clone.
BO RAI CHO =MUST DIE!!

I can't really say that I dislike Smoke - more like I don't "get" him. I mean, what's the big deal about him? Okay, so he was a hidden NPC in MK2 and in MK3 he was a Scorpion clone with lame fatalities. Maybe he'll impress us more in MKD.
