ScorpionX, completely agree with you. I mean, if you are a good player, you will find ways around a cheap player, but sometimes it's damn near impossible. For instance, I was dominating the other night till I ran into a captain marvel user. Ordinarily, this would be no problem but he would do nothing but wait for me to come to him. He wouldn't attack and it got boring so I would go after him. Every time I did, Shazaam Shazaam Shazam! I know it sounds like this guy would be no problem but you guys had to see it. This game is still fun but damn these people! Feels good when you beat their cheap asses though, that is if you get around their tactics.

Use Rage mode to break his block, and even if he uses the unblockable lightning you can still wail on him in rage mode.

Interesting post. So does doing b1 take skill? does doing 4,3,d/f1 take skill? Not really. Pretyt much anybody can do the various combos and techniques you see in a fighting game with some excpetions such as parrying certain supers in 3s or lightwave dashing in tekken.

Skill in a fighting game is not in what moves you use at all. Skill in fighting games comes from your ability to get around your opponents techniques. Combos strings normal moves special moves and pro moves are not difficult at all in MK and they take no skill to pull off discounting some of the more absurd and impractical combos of course.

Lets take a look at my Jax. I am considered to be the best Jax player on ps3 and possibly on 360 as well. My jax game is on pro missles to keep away the machine gun to anti air and ground pounds when they are guaranteed off certain moves or occasionally to catch somebody who isn't paying attention due to the barrage of missles being shot at them. I am also responsible for creating some of his highest damage practical combos b2,b2,b1,b1,1,3,d/b2,1,f2 is 56% and the more practical version would be b1,b1,1,2,d/b2,1,f2 which is about 43%. Jax is relatively slow up close and even his b1 which is good usually will trade at best with an opponent. Most of the time b1 is reserved for punishing. UP close you can b3 for a so so 50/50. In addition to the missles and machine gun you build a lot of meter firing missles so you can use a combo breaker to push your opponent back.

After reading over that strat you can say you don't sound that great all you do is basic moves. Which is 100% true yet top players say I've got a great or the best jax. So whats the difference? Why can I beat people with jax using a basic technique and other people fall short using the same technique? Simple I'm better at overcoming my opponents coutner strategy. I'm better at implementing my own strategy. I pick my spots better than others do. Obviously from this example the skill of a player is shown not by their regular/special move/combo ability but purely by their ability to overcome their opponents counterstrategy.

In other words if somebody can't get past kano's knives what is the point of doing something else? Realistically if you spam the same move like that you should be easy to beat because you're telling your opponent EXACTLY what you plan to do. If you know whats coming and can't get around it you got outplayed plain and simple. You have no grounds to complain and you really have no grounds to claim you're better than the person who just beat you because you felt they won "cheaply" or they lacked skill. The truth is your subconcious is angry at yourself for not being able to overcome a basic and simple strategy. Instead of blaming yourself and/or using it to improve yourself you project this on your opponent. Clearly they have no skill and you would have won if they hadn't done the same move over and over. That is faulty logic. All you can really say is I should look to improve to avoid this technique you consider cheap/cheesy. I mean seriously if I hit you with a ground pound and you keep rolling to the side and I keep doing the ground pound is that my fault for doing the ground pound or your fault for not learning how to quick recover?

cheating is a code you enter and for the 360 entering a code disables acivments for that game

i dont think enting flash's moves 10 tiems or spaming superman's ground pounds dissables acivments and trophys

a good gamer will allways find ways around this problem dont complan that they spam a move over and over it is not cheating its playing unfairly

stuff like this has been around forever ex:street fighter 2 blanka! grin

yeah you are right joker but while that good gamer is trying to find out how to get around the problem, their win to loss ratio is getting worse and the little prick that spamms, is getting a better score. Finally, you find a way to beat the little shit, and he quits. then you have to do it with the next one. Where does that leave you on the leaderboards or even having fun?!

Ran into a Flash player who was using a supposed infinite (at least it's claimed as one on youtube). This one.

The combo meter ended, but I was unable to block, break, or rage out of it in any way. Not sure if it's an engine exploit.

The hell are you talking about? Three hits is designed in the game to be his Pro move. It isn't even close to an infinite. The developers spent time, intentionally, to purposely give Green Lantern the ability to do an overhead hammer up to 3 times in a row with perfect timing.

Next you will tell me that Scorpion doing a double teleport into an unblockable flame move is an infinite too.

Besides, anyone who can overcome the lag to do GL's triple hammer online deserves it.

I know exactly what you mean, I've had my fare of scrubs that keep using that move only on the entire match. It can get as annoying as the ground pound infinite, but it's not really an infinite. I just fucking hate players who use the same move over and over again, makes you want to punch a puppy! furious

Why? Isn't it incredibly predictable, thus making it easy to beat?

Not only that, but it's a specific-range move. It only hits from a distance, leaving you enough time to sidestep and dash in front of its range

I fought someone earlier today, I don't pay attention to the user's name, but I kicked his Captain Marvel butt, so then he changes it to Shang Tsung and totally used his infinite with the fireball he shoots into the air. Man, I quit after that because I refuse to fight against those who abuse.

Abusers are losers... does that rhyme hey it does!

And then there was another user I fought against, really close in defeating him both times, of course he uses Flash to keep using his teleport punches, but honestly Sub-Zero is really good in this situation. I'm not saying that because he's my favorite character, but he does a lot of cool moves that just one touch, the opponent gets frozen and BOOM! Ninja attack! Then just, both times got him down to where like 1% of health he has and for some reason he just kicks me when I block his fucking teleport move. God, I seriously hope that they do better next game with these infinites!

He has skill. He is skilled enough to win.

I will not give a rat's ass about the opponents feeling, we are plazing a game competitively. You aim to win since it is the purpose of the game, and your gaming activity come to think about it.

Adapt.

I will admit, I do cheat. But I only cheat when either someone feels like spamming a punch move at me, or if they really deserve it. Here's why:

1. Those who feel that they should just pin you in a corner and repeatedly punch you over and over again to where you have no other choice but to use a breaker, causing your Rage meter to go down, deserves to be spammed. I don't play any other character except for Sub-Zero and Raiden. Mostly Sub-Zero, as I've already stated... I use his slide move as a spam and watch as the other guy fails as winning the match because he thought he could spam.

That's bullshit, this though is sad and I'm ashame that I do such an act, but if it's because some players are just that blind, they deserve this. I don't know why, but they do. And it's fun.

2. There are times where you will come across a user who obviously SUCK at fighting online knowing that they are not good enough to fight those who play 24/7. Unlike me, I just play for fun, but of course this is why I play for fun. These users obviously don't see a pattern. I repeat my moves over and over and over again, and I make a slight pause during a certain part of my little pattern thing to see if they take that time to actually try and attack me. Of course they don't.

Teleporting and instnalty casting myself in ice hoping that the poor sucker actually hits me will become an automatic spam move if they clearly don't get the picture that if I'm frozen, you shouldn't touch me. And some times I do it in plain sight, right there, they litterally charge at me and punch me. WTF?

Seriously, there are people who have patterns over and over again, I will admit, I am one of those people who has a clear pattern. I told you part of it, but not all of it, why? Because I am that nice enough to actually give away how I play. But I'm not telling you how I use Raiden, oh no... he's when I feel that you should get creamed and creamed immediately.
