I've heard here and there that this would be possible in Deception. But i haven't came across any solid facts saying you can.

Well, we've seen two Hara-Kiris so far, though the development team is calling them "Hari Karis". It looks like every character will have one.

Yes it's true. If you go to the official site and download the latest trailer at the end Baraka performs a Hari Kari on himself.

You need proof? Go watch the new trailer and the old ones as well. Rock solid proof is watching baraka cut his own head off. That some smack you in the face proof. DSB

because you don't want that your opponent performs a fatality

you do Hari Kari on yourself if you lose. So that the opponent cant do a fatality on you.
