Could an online patch be the answer to our SU prayers?

We all know that the online aspect has become a big part of today's gaming. X-Box Live! has offered many online updates for games after their release dates. Downloadable content has been made possible with the introduction of the hard drive to the X-Box and the Playstation 2.
Could this also be a possible option for Midway? We know that many characters (Sonya, Jax, Onaga) are playable in Arcade and Puzzle Kombat via a cheat device. Could a patch provide these features we've all so desperately been searching for (and have yet to fine)?
Here is what I feel could be gained by adding a patch:
1) Unlock all character models currently available in the game, including Puzzle and Arcade characters.
2) Upload Deadly Alliance sound bites and Fatalities (Example: announcers voice for Quan Chi and Shang Tsung's name after winning the match).
3) New select screens for Puzzle and Arcade mode to accommodate the additional character modes ala Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Similar to the way you would change your desktop theme or add a new skin to your P.C.'s MP3 player.
It would also be great to see additional features like more content or additional stages added to the roster of features.
Not to say that this is even a remote possibility that is.
Any thoughts?

the MK crew said there wouldn't be any downloadable content or patches for MKD. But said it's quite possible for MK7.

Really? Is there a reason why? Is it because of hardware limitations?

Hmm, although the MK team did say there woulnd't be any downloadable content, I suspoes it is still possible, or rather they maybe able to change their minds about the whole thing. I dunno, I think SU's are most likley a time lock type of thing, if they do in fact exsist.
