Let's settle this once and for all. Dairou is Hotaru's OTHER NAME before he was called Hotaru. I don't think Hotaru is in the game and I certainly didn't read his name mentioned anywhere.

They're different people...

Dairou - Rogue samurai with a score to settle.

Hotaru - General of the Dragon King's army.

I agree with you 100% Dairou is most likely Hotaru, they'll probably put something about him leaving the Samurai to become a General for the Dragon King in his ending.

I'm guessing that the character that everybody thinks is Dairou (upper left of select screen) is Quan Chi, it looks like him and it makes sense because Quan Chi should be in Deception.

But no one ever mentioned Dairou by NAME in a preview anywhere as far as I know. Some fan just said that the samurai that was mentioned in PSM (iirc) is Dairou when in reality, they were Hotaru.

Until it's confirmed otherwise, I'm not wavering in my belief that they're different. Hotaru looks nothing like the concept sketches of Dairou.

I think they are seperate. Hotaru was confirmed such a long time before that magazine came out AND had been seen in screen shots. If that magazine didn't know who Hotaru was by then and said Dairou, they might as well just give up the magazine business because they suck at it.

Yeah, I also believe that they are 2 seperate characters, and will until I'm SHOWN otherwise.

Anybody else think that Hotaru looks an awful lot like Raiden?

Hotaru = a young raiden prior to the thunder God role? or raiden in disguise, or hell, just plain hotaru

I'll agree with you, even if it's only on the "just plain Hotaru" part. tongue

I consider Hotaru an official one, and Dairou an unofficial one. All we have of Dairou is sketches. Hotaru is flesh, blood an pixels right now. If Dairou shows up, fine, but if he doesn't they either didn't like the character, or he evolved into Hotaru.

Dairou evolved into Hotaru! lol. I think and hope that they are seperate characters but the could've just thought it better to rethink his character.
