In a past update by MKO.
We were told that.
Dairu is a deadly mercenary. by Steve Beran.
From the krypt in MK:DA I have gathered the following information.
Dariou, trained in the ways of the samurai, was too blood thirsty to abide by their code of honor. The two-swords technique is Dariou's signature, his opponents reduced to streaming fountains of blood in the wake of his flashing steel blades.

So if he is a mercenary, who is he working for ?

He sounds like he fits into the MK world very well.

My guess is Quan Chi (if he's in) or the Dragon King.

Oh, and it's Dairou, by the way. Dairu is a typo.

i know this has its own thread about people tryin to figure out whos who on the select screen. -some people think this is smoke or whoever, but im sayin that its Dairou because it resembles his concept picture found in the MKDA krypt.

Nah, I think that could in fact be Skab. Am I the only one who noticed dents on the sides of his head? Why would Dairou have them? And he just looking zombie-like.

I could be wrong of course.
No Skab is on the top bar all the way to the right. You can tell.

I think Dairou worked for Shang Tsung.
but no he don't live anymore.
so Dairou is just wandering in the outworld.

I think Dairu has something to do with Hotaru as they're both Samrui-like.

i bet hotaru and dariou are enemies, Dariou might have been in the same order as hotaru and dariou might have been exiled and hotaru is searching for him so he can kill him.
They are totally brothers. Look at the names. Very similar.

that pic isn't skab bekuz skab doesn't have a nose, which is clearly visible in the pic.

i hope they make dairou really tight kuz his concept in mk5 wasnt that great. i hope he resembles Sanada from samurai warriors

either way, Dariou and Hotaru are probably going to hate each other and want each other dead. I bet both are neutral, either that or Hotaru is good and Dariou is evil.

I actually think both are going to be evil.
Sorry to break your idea but in a previous update we were told the following about Hotaru.

Hotaru is a guardian of Order he has come from the Orderealm. His superiors have sent him on a mission to restore Order to Outworld.
I think the only way to bring order to Outworld is to restore the Dragon King to power.

I thought that Hotaru was an updated version of Dairou. If there are two samurai figures in this game I think it would be cool for Hotaru to be evil and Dariou to be good.

I know that Dariou's storyline has him under the alliance of evil, but that is unofficial because that was only a rendering of him. I think a samurai conflict between good and evil would be great in Mortal Kombat. It would be the rivalry like Sub-Zero and Scorpion of the new Millenium.

Soooo, Hotaru wants to restore the Dragon King to power to bring order to Outworld? So his plan is to bring back an ancient evil tyrant to restore order and balence to Outworld? There's a problem with that plan that I can't put my finger on.

I know it sounds a little weird. But Outworld would no longer be in Chaos if the DK was restored to power. Think about it. He would rule with an iron fist. Therefore stopping chaos and restoring order.
