Dear Mr. Boon,


I've been a Mortal Kombat fan since I was 9. I've gone out of my way to but all of your video games. I stood by the series when Armageddon came out without a story line, and even bought a Wii off eBay for $600 so I could play as Khameleon. I bought a Dreamcast just to play as Baraka, Mileena, Kitana, Kung Lao, Cyrax and Sektor in Mortal Kombat Gold. I have every character's biographies and endings down cold. I even own a copy of Mortal Kombat Annihilation. I stood by the series during its downfalls and I did my best to be a good and loyal fan to you. You and John Tobias changed the whole fighting genre for the better. You made the best video game franchise in history.

When Armageddon came out with the "Kreate-A-Fatality" system that was downright terrible, I knew that in the next video game you could improve upon it or just bring back the originals. I hoped that Hara-Kiris would come back too - one of the best improvements to the games in a long time. But now there will be no Fatalities.

I almost cried my way through classes today. I'm still recovering from what I heard. I understand your reasons for wanting to do a crossover with a well-established universe, not only will it help out Midway tremendously, but it speaks so highly of the universe you created. But the idea of making this a rated "T" video game, when it was built on the foundation of gore, I'll never understand. You promised us that Mortal Kombat 8 would be dark and gritty; as badass as Batman is, Superman is still a man in brightly colored spandex with the badassness of toothpick!

I hope for the best with this game. I wouldn't mind a crossover, and, like I said, I understand the decision...and I probably will buy your game, because, despite this, I am still as loyal a fan as I'll ever be.

So many promises of super-unlockables, comic books, and modes within the game that have never been fulfilled, and I still stood by Mortal Kombat. Forgive this harshness, but I hope all that has come out within the past day and a half about Mortal Kombat 8 will be nothing more than a series of broken promises like all the things we actually wanted in previous games, but never got.

Agree with everything, but I won't copy/paste your letter. The only difference is that I won't buy this game and give money to a team that has been THIS LAZY.

I wouldn't call them Lazy. If you listen to Boon he mentions how he had to take an Engine that supports 1st/3rd Person Shooters, and his Team had to program their own structures and parts in order to apply it to a fighting game. His team is said to work hard and excessively on getting it right, and so far I'm happy with the results. Don't call the man and his team lazy unless you are willing to get your fat lazy ass off your computer and build a better fighting game yourself. In the mean time, shut up and play the previous MK games your parent's money has bought your lazy ass.

Thank you for refreshing Mortal Kombat and its fan base. We need to get rid of the crappy fans. This game is going to rock while everyone who dissed mortal kombat is going to feel retarded and end up buying and enjoying the game anyways.

Yeah go buy the fucking game when it comes out and make boon the richest man in the world if possible so he can deliver other games like Mk vs naruto or whatever anime shit kids watch these days. Yes, we all know that THEY will buy it. It's called PEER PRESSURE, they're only making a big scene because they don't want to admit that they're going to buy the game. There's no need for turning evil on these people and calling them babies becuase they're only pretending to not really buy the game.

I can't say I'm as disapointed as everyone else in here because I've been a hardcore fan of both MK and Batman / Superman since I was a kid, now at the age of 26. I even have bought the crappiest of MK games like special forces and MK advanced (both collecting dust). I'm faithful the team has what it takes to make MK vs. DC a very good fighting game. I take it that this game like Shaolin Monks, will be just a prequel to the series.

The only sad part is that as far as we know there won't be any fatalities and over the top gore, and I understand why. I'm not sure if this was a smart move to do as a start for the current gen consoles, maybe it would have been awesome and not have recieved as much negative feedback from fans if this was out after the promised "gritty", "dark", "serious", Mortal Kombat. MK vs. DC does look fun though that's without a doubt from what I saw in the trailer. It's the kind of combat I've been wanting to see since the announcement of Deadly Alliance! so that alone makes it up for me.

I say Marvel vs. Capcom is to blame for this, but that game brought in a lot of fans to the already famous Street Fighter series. If the fighting engine is good for this game, they can just carry it over to MK8 (or 9 if this is 8). This was a very risky move for Midway, and well they had the balls to do it.

This game will appeal more to average gamers and regular fighting game fans like the ones you see at Gamestop (young stupid teens saying "oh word? Mortal Kombat vs. DC? Yo I'ma get da shieee...) you know what I mean. Regardless, I know myself that I'll get this game, especially those of you saying you won't buy it you know you will you're just saying you're not to piss off Midway. Well that's it from me.

Yeah, I know there are many improvements, like a new, awesome fighting system. Well, I play the game for more reasons than just the fights! If I were buying most fighting video games where the storyline doesn't matter, I would care more about the fighting system.

Just because I'm upset with the story doesn't make me a crappy fan! I've stood by the game from the beginning, and I trust the developers to make the best game they can. If you're just going to mock me for NOT LIKING SOMETHING, go openly embrace fascism or something, but get off the MK forums. I recognize that fans who like this are still legitimate fans, why can't you do the converse.

Oh, yeah, and I know that certain types of annoying, whining, fans can be, well, annoying...But there's a difference when those annoying fans are actually fans, as opposed to some goddamn 12-year-old who played Deadly Alliance once and thinks that Mavado can kick Batman's ass, therefore MKvDC is stupid.

MK has become a big part of my life
as cheezy as it sounds
but makin this game will destroy the great story, possibly lose fans, and defintly make MK look bad without the gore
