What deathtraps did you think they could have improved on or changed?
Also what arenas in general were dissapointing to you?

The living forest is the worst and i didnt care for yin yang island but pretty much all the other stages are great. The lower mines stage is the best. The grinder in that stage is sick.

Quan Chi's fortress deathtrap is horrible.... all the lasers taking a spider web shape and then all of a sudden it's a square grid.... wtf.

I didnt like the Living Forest. Its lifeless...
Quan Chi's arena looks cool but the lazer trap when it turns to square grids is really damn stupid.
I wish i could play in the slaughterhouse itself instead of always having to break through the floors.

While the Living Forest was dissapointing (lifeless), I was VERY pleased with the return of the Portal, Deadpool, and the Courtyard.
I like the concept of the 'Falling Cliffs' stage, but I thought the stage colors were too bland and unappealing - ugly. I really liked seeing Quan Chi's stage back with the death trap and was overall happy with the rest of the stages. It would be nice if they could've incorporated the beetle death trap idea for the 'Beetle Lair' but I think the stage is cool nontheless. The 'Nethership Interior' kinda dissapointed me. The swinging bodies is awesome, but there is nothing else to the stage. A death trap would be nice there. Even if it was just them busting out of the windows.
I was very suprised, however, that 'Goro's Lair' or the 'Kombat Tomb' did not return...

I didn't really find any arenas disappointing. I liked them all for one reason or another. Even the Living Forest... Even though the trees are not "living" like they're supposed to be, I like the scenery.
The only death trap I didn't really like was the one at the Ying Yang Island. How is someone gonna be eaten by fish in the water and the blood stays on the ground under the water instead of filling the water and turning that whole area of the water red?
But my favorite arena is the Slaughterhouse and my favorite death trap is in the Slaughterhouse.

Yep i agree.. it was corny
The only thing I did not like was the square grid.
The living forest was ok. Did you catch, I believe it was either in Konquest or in the Kontent about the forest, where it says that some trees don't move for years at a time? Heh..guess this arena must be one of those times...
As for the trees eating people, wait for Shaolin Monks

Grizzle, you took the words right outta my mouth. It seems to me that the design team took alot of nostalgia into account when making this game(Dead Pool, Pit Stage, even the damn witch flying by the moon). The one thing that they failed to do in this regard was design a stage fatality where the trees eat you. I mean, cmon...........we've been hearing rumors about this ever since the release of MK2. And on top of that, the stage really needed to be punched up a little..........it's very bland.
i always saw those trees to be in too much pain to do anything to anyone as if they aree peoples souls being stuick in a tree
but thats just my theory i still think it would be cool to gety eaten by a tree

I'm not complaining, I love this game, the ONLY actual complaint is with the Not-so Living forest. The rest is nit picking.
OH MAN, the Living Forest in Deception is TERRIBLE!!
At least the music was correct. It would've been cool to fight amongst the trees, have smaller trees as obstacles scattered about, like on Yin yang island.
The Pit was somewhat disappionting, and the music was wrong. I was also a bit confused as to why they combined the Portal, with Smoke's portal. BTW: If you look at the destiny towers, one has all the MK1 fighters, and I thought I saw one with MK4 characters on it, that was interesting.
Yin yang island felt like Virtua fighter, when using Shujinko's alt.

I thought the living forest was not very good... I thought deadpool was too small for comfort... Falling cliffs has a great soundtrack before the rounds begins... I love yinyang island. I find the idea cool... Best stage in mkd

I don't like the Kuatan Palace death trap...they just become stationary like a puppet, and sink in. Yeah, if you get snagged by lava you'd go prone and sink right int too, but I would've at least liked then to scream and struggle as they sink in quicker, or maybe something like Way of the Warrior, where after they get knocked in, they struggle to come up but they're already all melted and gross.
The Living Forest was boring...the trees didn't roar or anything like they used to.
As for the return of the Dead Pool, I would've much rather seen the Acid Bath return, along with the dead pool. The classic stages are all meant to be chess stages which is cool, but the Acid Bath in MKDA was disappointing because they just didn't care to implement stage fatalities in DA, so I figured if they're bringing back Kuatan palace, why not the Acid Bath? The Acid Bath is at least bigger and has more chance for fighting rather than ring out.

Like 99 44/100% of the people on this thread, I was disappointed by the Living Forest. It peeved me how nature formed a perfect square-shaped arena. There could have been trees scattered throughout the fighting area that could be shattered like the stone pillars in the Beetle Lair - that would have disrupted the monotony. And while I'm not a proponent of the fabled living trees death trap, I think it would have been cool if some of the trees on the outside could snag or grab a fighter kinda like the prisoners in the Dark Prison.
The Portal was just bleah. No death trap. No weapon. And I didn't even get a sense of nostalgia playing in it.
My biggest problem with Quan Chi's Fortress was the square-shaped laser grid. But I also disliked how bright the whole level was. That's Quan Chi's house, man, it should be darker!
I was displeased with these three levels so much that I opened up a new profile and played through Konquest again, skipping those koffins. I did this mainly so that I could get the Pit and the Chamber of Artifacts back in the arcade rotation.
Now the Chamber of Artifacts looks cool, has good music, but I was crushed that it didn't have a death trap! Apparently those turning gears are just cosmetic. I would've also liked to see the rumored death trap in the Beetle Lair. Too many death traps then, you say? Take away the Nexus death trap - it's boring. End of speech.

yeap they should put acid bath in deception and make the threes in living forest to open their mouth and roar.
All the other stages are really cool.
BUT they should put a deathtrap in all the stages especially in the glass chamber. I hope they do this in mk7.
-MKD deathtraps are excellent all of them.-

I thought the Sky Temple was disappointing. Up top it looked cool, but the death trap made that level look so stupid. This massive tower, in the middle of no where, with every level exactly the same...who builds a 70 story tall ancient temple in the middle of no where? The Falling Cliffs was a cool idea, but its almost impossible to avoid the death trap. I was kinda disappointed that they said every stage would have a death trap and then some didn't, but I'm sure they had them in and took them out so they could put them back in as "extras" on gamecube...Midway's laziness never ceases to amaze me.

Now that I think about it, I thought the Dead Pool was pretty lame too. When you go in the camera angle is always awful, so you never get a good shot of the corpse, and its funny becuase when the skeleton floating around in there passed by the corpse, its about 4x bigger.
