did any one else experience this problem?
Some characters special moves seem to not work when you want them to. Namely for me scorpions spear. In all the previous mortal kombats I was able to knock opponents in the air, catch them with the spear before they landed and pull them back for more damage. In MKDA everytime i try this he will not throw the spear. I know i am pushing the correct buttons it just wont work. Another thing i've come to notice is with moves that leave you vulnerable to your opponents attack, like a blocked or missed spear, your opponent has all day to travel all the way across the screen and beat the crap out of you. True in the previous games you were also vulnerable to a counter attack. However it was a small fraction of the time you now have to counter.

I guess it gets you to take more risk when you use the moves.

Me 2.
But some moves can't be done straight after another, e.g. Sonya's kiss of death. You can't do it straight after the opponent's recovered, you have to wait a sec or 2 (or do a couple of moves if in a combo).
His spear may work in the same way.

heres th deal,
scorpions spear will work in a combo ONLY after one previous hit.
this means that after 3,3,u+4(launcher), the spear will NOT fire.
however, after just the u+4, the spear will fire and you may go on with your combo.
this was implemented to play down long juggle combos that do too much damage. although some characters/moves/combos did seem to slip thru this new system, mostly long (juggle)combos are either very low in damage, or simply not allowed.
as far as the spear being fast...
the spear is as fast as ever, you can block a sweep kick and counter with the spear every time if yer fast.
the recoil time after getting it off?
the fact is, the spear always left you with yer ass in the air if you missed. seems pretty much the same this time around.
as far as the actual movement of the spear...
you can't say 'scorpion's spear is supposed to be...' because moves are always changing in MK.
look at Kano's ball.
just roll with the punches, re-learn your moves,
and just be glad if your favorite character made it into this, the apex thus far, of Mortal Kombat.
and then feel bad for Baraka fans:(
