I heard early on that MK: D would keep the multiple fighting styles of last game, but they where gonna come up with something easier then ATtack 1,2,3,4 for buttons. Like the classic Upercut for everyone would come back, and the sweep and round house.
I heard they where gonna work the original MK basic controls back in and just intergrate them with the fighting styles, so your friend could come over and you be like "This is punck and kick, and upper cut, and sweep..." and not have to send him threw the turtorial just so he knows whats going on.
What do you guys know about this?

I don't know if that's true or not but I hope they did too, MKDA had one of the worst control systems of a fighting game ever

About Me

I don't want a bigger movelist Boon. I want a reason to use more than
10% of the ones you've given me. Fix MK with Move Properties.

Nah, MKD still uses an unfriendly interface for buttons that are very unintuitive, however the Special Move button has been removed.
So now it'll be Block, Change Stance, 1, 2, 3, 4. Attacks are still mapped around the 1, 2, 3, 4 randomly so that's that.

LoL yea, I loved the randomness of it all. Like you would think that Down plus a button would do a low attack...but sometimes they characters would throw out the most random/useless moves. Made for many a hoot and a holler...what was their rationality?

lol yeah, man it was hard most of the time to learn the game by watching it unlike other games where you see something and you just sorta know how its done, so much for good game design.
As for the universal moves, supposedly its the same for everyone.
JRF said that uppercut was down + 2 for every character.

there ratinallty is that you only want to play with one person and master him, there is no logic to the buttons and that pisses me off, this is the biggest problem, even 2d street fighter has a method to the buttons, and tekken does it best with right punch left punch right kick left kick, its just common sense, what the hell is wrong with these people (MK Trilogy for ps2 is the King, MK will always live in its shadow) (storms out of room to destory his copy of MK:DA and us its blood to pray for a new button system)

I think what makes Tekken one of the greatest, if not best, fighting-gameplay games is the logic and natural design of its 4 button system. It isn't arbitrary like MKDA. Top left button = left punch, bottom right button = right kick etc....
it's so obvious and pure and natural.
And then there's Street Fighter, which has a series of punch strength/speeds...which in a way is very logical and natural. Killer Instinct, same way.
Soul Edge, a game series I really do hate playing, and Virtua Fighter, another game series I hate playing, has a somewhat logical system... a guard button, a punch button, a kick button and a weapon button.
But MKDA......wow...it's just so stupid.. it's all arbitrary.

Attack 1,2,3,4 still exist, but the button presses for uppercut and such will be universal.

I liked the MKDA style of the buttons, worked fine for me. Initially I was a little disappointed that the uppercut move was coming back- but after seeing the different ways it's performed by the characters, it's not too bad.
Special Move button is still the throw button. (Thank God. And what's with the wanting button-combination moves? I like it SIMPLE...)

Dial a combo then ask for Noob.
I didn't know that the uppercut was coming back!
This is good news indeed.

At E3, the uppercut was done in 2cd stance by d+2...Boon told me there..that it would be defaulted like that on everyone

Wait, so there isn't an SM button now? WTF!!!! There is, there isn't, there is, there isn't *explodes*. I mean, that's good, but it's jacking up the logistics of my stick!!!
MKD/DA = most unintuititve controls EVER!!

i agree that the controls were bad in DA, but not unworkable. i'm more than willing to put up with them. I would like, however, to be able to use all 4 shoulder buttons on the PS2. DA did not use L2. It should have been used to cycle through the stances in the opposite direction.

1. because every other game that i can think of does, so it obviously works.
2. why have another button when you can do the same thing with a button combination.
3. its still simple. It doesn't take a genius to press 1+2 vs SM button.
but thats just me wink
