Different (collector's edition) box art for different stores?

Is it true that if you wanted to get a certain collector's edition box art, you would have to go to a certain store? For instance, if you wanted the Raiden cover, you would have to go to Wal-Mart and if you wanted the Scorpion cover, you would have to go to EB Games. Is this true?

Yes this is true. Check the official site for more details.
This is only for X-Box (I don't know why) on PS2 you can only get Subzero.

Dude, that mileena cover looks HOT too bad i can't get it. I have a ps2, but I think subzero looks awesome he's the other one i wanted

Ps2= Sub-Zero only from anywhere

Xbox= Scorpion from EB games
Baraka from Gamestop
Raiden from Wal-Mart
Mileena from Toys'r'us
