Fatalities make a lot of people talk here at mk online. People like or hate them. My question is, do they count that much for you that you might just not buy the game because generally speaking you dont like the ones you have seen so far?
Personaly, geenrally speaking I like the ones I have seen so far. But even if that wasnt the case, I would still end up buying the game. I think Mortal Kombat Deception has a lot more to offer than just the fatalities at the end of each fight that made the series so famous. Deception will feature interactive environments, stage fatalities, death traps, Hara_kiris, 2 fatalities per character, a large amount of figthers to choose from, a puzzle and a chess game, the conquest mode, and tons of unlockables. To me its just an incredebile amount of features that you cannot just ignore because some fatalities are not to your liking. The fatalities last in general, what, 30 seconds maximum. A fight can last 5 minutes. I would rather have a good fighting engine, wich makes the fighting be it against the cpu, some friends or online, very entertaining, than a lousy fighting engine with incredible fatalities at the end of the battle. I mean if you get bored to death when fighting your opponent, just to get to the fatality part, are you gonna be happy with a fighting game that is like that?.
I'm sure most of the fatalities in Deception will be incredible, but to me, they are just icing on the cake. I already know I'm gonna be having fun just fighting against other opponents online, the cpu or friends, because as I look at it, whith all features, Deception would be an amazing game, even without the fatalities.
What do you guys think?

It used to be that Fatalities were all you had to look forward to in any new MK game, but now there is so much more to the games that it is becoming IMO just another part or special move. I do wish they were easier to perform more like special moves. Cause I'm a lazy bitch baby.

After MKDA, I really didn't care about fatalities much. The fun is finding out what they are, not doing them. If there were no fatalities in MK7, I wouldn't be too upset.
As I've said before, characters are what I'm most concerned about. I'd rather have 25 characters with no fatalities then 21 characters with fatalities.

Man , Tyler_Durden you speak the truth. Fatalities are the Icing on the cake for me. When I was 12 back in 92 when Mortal Kombat 1 came out ; I looked foward only to the fatalities. Now as an adult Mortal Kombat Deception is a complete package . From the large character list , to the puzzle game to the bios , to the interactive backgrounds. I have been very happy with what Midway is doing with Mortal Kombat. On a side note I happen to like all of the fatalities that I have seen. Hopefully ,I can play some of you guys on Xbox Live.

Fatalities do mean alot.Without fatalites it would just be another one of your average fighting games. I mean, I do enjoy having the five minute matches as you said earlier, but if I just wanted to fight competitvely against some I could just play Tekken or DOA. And I also no that MKD has all of these new games and features.but it wasn't always like this.So to me great fatalities are important. And I do admit, that I do get pissed of when a new fatality come out and its your average head decapitation.(Nightwolf)
This doesnt make me want to not play the game.
It' just makes me pretty sure that I wont pick those characters.

hunnitwatz I understand what you are saying. You are right , fatalities are important to the series ; that is what sets it apart from other fighting series. I believe what he is trying to say is that other members of the broad hate the fatalities so much that is seems like they don't even want the game anymore.

LOL!!! hauahuahauhauahuhauahu!
Well, I think the fatalities play a big role in MK, but I could still have fan without using them (like I did in DA)! But yeah, they're still important
PS: C'mon, Greenroom dude! It wasn't that hard to pull of a fatality in DA!

Fatalities are Mortal Kombat, not to mention the gore as well.
I do agree that its just icing on the cake, but when the icing tastes this good, be not to change the ingredients

Finally, somebody else has seen the light!! This is what i've been telling everybody whos upset with the Fatalitys, they aren't the only thing that matters in the game. Deception is totally going to ROCK, but some people can't see past a couple of lame fatalitys and think its going to bring the game down drastically.

well mortal kombat gained so much media attention in 92 with mk1 because of the fact u could kill someone and rip out there spine etc so therefore its partly why the game is as famous as it is but for me its tha whole package the characters , the story , the fatalities , the arenas etc and from what i have seen these are the best fatalities we have seen yet , as with every mortal kombat u will have some great fatalities and some not so great but you have to expect that and as for people saying that they wont use a specific character because their fatality isnt good i dunno wat yous are talkin bout but im gonna be using every character i wanna finish this game 100% and if that means seeing not so good fatalities i dont care i love the game already and i havent even friggen played it

I don't think it is the fatalities themself that matter but the kontent and variety. Since DA you only had one option it lacked a little. Now with MKD you have three options or more. Plus the gameplay itself has become better then ever. I remember getting stuck in the corner by some ass who only knew how to leg sweep!! lol. Now I'm looking forward to sitting at home and eventually playing against someone in Australlia or Canada. Strategy is now a major factor as well. Where am I standing am I close to a death trap? Is my opponent? It's a breed of fighting game that hasn't even been seen before now. I haven't even thought about the puzzle or chess games yet. To say you won't buy the game just because the fatalities aren't up to snuff is weak. Look at the big picture instead of through the looking glass.

Well, I am happy to see so many intelligent answers to such a simple question.

i like a lot of the fatalities i've seen in deception so far...granted some could have been a little more creative (of course i have only seen about 8 of them) but when you think about it, they're still more complex and graphic than any fatalities from previous games. people mention how great the first mortal kombat's fatalities were...johnny cage punching someone's head off? people would have complained to no end if that had been his fatality for DA. in our minds the fatalities from MK and MK2 are so awesome because we were much younger then and hadn't really been exposed to that kind of violence in a video game. actually, thinking of it, the fatalities from both games ARE still awesome...
excellent or kind of mediocre, all fatalities in my book are good. if i had to make a suggestion to midway though, how 'bout some more avant-garde fatalities like liu kang's arcade drop or smoke's armageddon from umk3?

I love Mortal Kombat, but there is no excuse to have NO fatalities. Trademark MK. If a fatality is lame, I really don't care, I didn't have say in them.
Like a lot of you have said, Fatalities are nice but if there's a bad one, I just don't use it.
There weren't a lot of other options in MKDA, but that allowed me to get creative.
The only exceptions I've found to this rule are both MK3 Fatalities that I love to do despite their inherent awfulness.
- Liu Kang's Arcade Drop
- Smoke's Armageddon
