Do we even know how the Dragon King appeared?

He kind of just popped up with his army and somehow became connected with Mileena and Baraka. But didn't boon say WAY BACK that Baraka was protecting his new master Quan-Chi. I believe Shang Tsung was killed by Kung Lao or maybe even Kenshi and Quan-Chi escaped. Then something happened that unleashed the Dragon King, maybe Reptile, and everyone was unprepared for it.

Play through MKDA as Reptile. I would honestly be shocked if it was anything else.

I have but the Dragon King has nothing in common with Reptile. He must have been released by Reptile in some other way, or Blaze, if they are fooling with the story.

As for the whole MKD storyline and shit like that, all we have to go on right now is MKDA's endings (so far, all but four of them are canon, and ]0MBAT's got the canon MK plot FAQ on the Kombat Pavilion for reference). And until we get the full storyline for MKD, it's still too early to consider Reptile's MKDA ending as "retconned".
