i think the mk series should continue long as they keep the story lines fresh, introducing new characters and slowly fading out the old characters. they got the gameplay and graphic right but they can be improved a little and introducing new boss and subbosses. and make the secrets more difficult to find and make the secret characters more orginal not rehash from the past and give them a tie in with the storylines.

as long as people keep playing it and buying new mk games, why not keep making them. but the developers gotta keep it fresh, or its their own fault if it dies. mk has sold the most console units than any other fighting game, more than street fighter if im not mistaken. so keep it guy i say! i love it and have bought every version of mk in some form or another. smile

Well, MK itself should never end. The thing is that, at some point (MK8/MK9), this Storyline should end and a new one should begin. I mean, a giant leap in the MK Universe (maybe 1/2 character could reappear with a really older look) with new characters and new dangers. If you ask me, this storyline should end in the same way it began: in a (Oficial) Mortal Kombat Tournament. IMO, to make it normal to end it in one game, the rules of the tournament should change (due to the power of a new challenger, or something happening amongst the Elder Gods): it should be something like:
- The Tournament has 3 stages, which demand 3 Consecutive Tournament Victories (CTVs), described as follows;
- 1st Stage (= 1st CTV): a portal between both realms is allowed, with a limited travel rate from the winning realm to the other and no travel between the other and the winning; interaction between people from both realms is not allowed.
- 2nd Stage (= 2nd CTV): the travel between the winning realm and the other is unlimited and the other way around is possible under justified circumstances; interaction is permitted, fighting between people of both realms is forbidded and will be harshly punished.
- 3rd Stage (= 3rd and last CTV): the realms fuse into one, and the ruler of the new realm is the former ruler of the winning realm. All other rules are off, since that will therefore be considered a new realm, available for challenge at any time.
- If one realm interrupts a streak of victories with one victory, the challenging realm must forefit, until a new ruler takes over that realm (meaning it takes one victory to stop a MK Tournament Konquer).

They could put that into like MK7, and that way, they would make it so that Earthrealm would win, and Outworld would have to wait until the new ruler would take place, which would happen decades after. The current emperor of that time wouldn't be killed out of mercy, and considering that the rules stated that they couldn't challenge Earth again if that emperor was alive. That would give them the possibility to start the MK Storyline again, with this being the past of the new one they would create for the MK8: The 2nd Generation.

As long as the stories are "hot" and the gameplay is fluid, then it will last for a long time. Look at Final Fantasy...enough said.gringrin

I would love the game to continu (even if they do have to let classics like Subby go). Maybe they could do something like Jet Moto 2 did (they had a code where you could play all the old tracks from Jet Moto 1). Maybe they could have all new characters, and then have a code to let certain old favorites come back. That would even be useful now, how many people out there are dying for Motaro or Goro or Baraka or Kabal even though they're all dead...

I think they got everything right except for gameplay. I hope we'll get to play an MK with flawless gameplay before the series end.

This is called 'bumping', and bumping is a form of spamming which is not tolerated on this site. You will probably get a nice message from a mod shortly. Have a nice day.

This form of bumping will not be tolerated. Enjoy your ban to it's full extent. I may decide to lift it after two weeks, but I won't make any promises.
