Do you feel that these threads ruin the "SURPRISE" of MK:D?

I mean, if I knew nothing of MK:D, was playing through, and suddenly I unlocked Smoke or Kabal, or any of the other classic characters, I would be blown away and feel truly astonished. But, since we have all these threads, and news is being pumped out rather frequently, now, there is no "surprise" factor involved. Before the game is out, we'll know every character that'll be in the fighter roster. Every sub-boss. Every boss. Every story detail and gameplay irk. There is not surprise. While it's a minor gripe, I wonder if anyone else feels the same way? I can only speculate. Fatality.

I don't really think the threads ruin much. Really, basic information like character bios and which characters are selectable are facts that are taken at face value. This shouldn't be something treated at the same degree as endings or hidden characters.

But for the record, Smoke and Kabal will be default characters(thank God).

As long as they keep the secret characters...a secret and the sub-boss and the way the DK looks(gameplay) away from the public i'll be fine. Yay for Smoke and Kabal.^^^^^

So is that why we can't reconize a raiden head in the E3 select screen?

No I think they are going to redue the select screen. The one we saw was used just for E3. Thats my guess.

It's been that way for ages though. We haven't had a real secret character in a MK game since II. I don't mind.

I feel the same way you do. If i hadnt had a clue that characters like Ermac, Smoke, Noob, Kabal, and Baraka were going to be in MKD, and all of a sudden i unlocked them and saw them, i wouldve been DEAD blistering happy and shocked. This wouldve impressed me alot more.

I think it wouldve been better if the MK team kept everything(or most) silent, that way we wouldnt of known much, which means we wouldve been way more suprised when we discovered secrets. Alot of game developers do that. But meh, i dont speak for everybody, thats just my opinion.smile

I agree they dont give out any surprises... all u hear is the minimum info and then everyone guessess and speculates.

I just remember when I played the original MK. It was good. Fought up the rosters and then faced... GORO! What the hell is that?! I wish I could get that feeling back. MK:D could easily do that. Fatality.

I remember that! I was like "Holy SHIT! This ain't some ninja!"... and then I got my ass handed to me on a plate. Catching the gamer off guard was a superb tactic by Midway in the original MK. Yeah, I hope they don't reveal any detailed pics of the sub-bosses or even of DK himself.

There IS a way to be surprised when MKD comes out, and it's all up to you. Simply don't get on the internet and read about the new stuff from here on out. When you play the game you will be completely surprised by the stuff you didn't know was in it. Impossible to not come here and read about the new stuff you say? Yeah...it's impossible. There is NO way that I can't come here and read the latest. So as for surprises...if Midway publishes stuff before the games release...I'm gonna know about it. So in the surprise department I guess we're all screwed.

It's not like Goro was all that secret in MK1. He's in the booklet, he's on the back of the box, he was in the ads, the arcade intro even has a big picture of him in the opening story. We don't know anything more about the subboss or boss of MKD than you know just taking a brief look at MK1.

You know, the majority of the people who will buy this game don't go surfing the forums for new news. So for them it'll be a surprise. Now for us, lol, we choose to come here every day, or for some of us every 5 minutes, to see what's going on with it. Our choice. So yes it does spoil and ruin the secrets, but only for those who choose to read it.

They do for most, but for some reason it doesn't bother me. Nothing beats the experience of seeing the characters first hand for myself on my own tv screen or unlocking them myself. Seeing and reading all this stuff doesn't spoil it for me.

Yes it ruins some of the fun and secrets. But you know they are just doing this to grab are attention and keep us hyped up. I have a feeling that most of the secret stuff will stay hidden tell the game is released. You know there is going to be a grip of stuff that comes out from now till the day we get it. Even with all the mags releasing info and all the online stuff being put out, it is just the stuff that the MK staff wants to be out there. They are playing the game well. Give us a nibble and we want a bite. If right now no other info was released on this game till the day it comes out, MKD would lose a little steam. But if they keep on baiting us in then there will be line to get the game. Here MK fans want the stick go get it....throw we get it and bring it back. Then they wait a little while waving the stick in front of us, Faking to throw it about seventeen times. Hitting are nose pushing us around in a circle then just when we are about to lose interest, They throw it again. Out of site out of mind. DSB

Im not upset. I like getting some/ALL of the info/SECRETS now...w/ the new ONLINE feature the game is not going to need to have tons of secrets to give it a large replay value, because of the online feature. The secrets now ARE the icing on the cake! Even if I know all the secrets, im still going to play the game alot!!!!because of ONLINE PLAY!! =-)

DSB you sure do have a way with words. I couldn't have said it better myself. Midway will probably show us 2-4 more characters. One or two in August, and one or two in September just to keep us excited. Then again we might not see another character until the release date. We might get another fatality revealed, or another background shown to us. Perhaps another death trap will be featured. Who knows. Midway has us right where they want us. Which is fine with me. I'd buy the game regardless of what we have been shown or not shown. DSB was right about the dog and stick theory. When it comes to MK...I'm just Midways 'stick-fetching lil bitch'. LMAO.
