I was thinking that if one vessel can contain a multitide of souls that make of one entity, then somewhere within there isn't just one consciousness at work and possibly Ermac should be the most versatile fighter since Shang Tsung.
What I mean is that Shang has the powers from vanquished souls within him.(And why he can't morph into more than just the selectable characters in any game is beyond me)Similarly, but to a lesser amount, Ermac should be as versatile. If the souls that comprise him give him the power he has, then their abilities, in theory, should also be aviliable for him to use.
I wonder if Ermac has a singular movite for fighting in Deception or is it collectivly agreed upon by those that comprise of him. In a sense, every other combatant is fighting for something, their realm, family, power or revenge. But Ermac has no home and no family. If it's to be for power, why? It would be more logical for one that has some origin to seek this. He relatively has none. And if it's for revenge, against who? Is another warrior the former enemy of one or several of the souls in him from a time long ago?
The question of why Ermac would help Kenshi also needs to be answered. He's said to be good, but for what reason? Of course he was tied to Shao Khan, but why leave his masters side? Is there one dominant consciousness that controls the others or are they all steering the ship?
I've noticed that it's been status quo to speculate about Liu Kang's apperance and significance, the un-named sub-boss, this whole "Onaga/Havik/Skab/Destro/Macho Man/Papa Smurf" thing, and other's. But porbably another question that should be asked is the one to a still unresolved mystery that's gone unanswered for too long. Who or what is Ermac? Hopefully in Deception, Ermac will finally have his secrets revealed.

Hmm i like your theroys they are nice and well elaborated that is good. I also wonder if the souls are his conciousness and that one of them wants revenge so that is why he may have any enemy.....and i agree with other thingss butttt i dont wanna go back and see wat they are im laaaazy
However it goes, it will be interesting to learn more about the origins of what people now call "classic characters" and back in 1995 called "stupid new characters, where's Scorpion?".

Maybe al those souls have fused together as one within him to form the Ermac we know. In effect their personalites, memories etc will all be a jumbled up mess in ermacs head. Or maybe they have all been destroyed so that he can exist as his own person with his own mind powered by these souls. Which in effect would explain his telekinetic powers. Although he did teach Kenshi, Kenshis telekinetic powers should not be anywhere near as strong as Ermacs. Although, Kenshi has the souls of his ancestors in his sword and maybe those could help him.
Anyway, goos theories man. Nice thread!
I think we will discover a bit more. So far, Im happy with his awesome looks, and Im thinking his story will evolve greatly. What I fear though, is that he will be too similar to Kenshi.
From what I have seen of his powers, Im very disappointed. He took 3 of Kenshis moves.
I KNOW he was the first character to use psychic powers but still, he could had gotten something new and fresh instead of the same specials as Kenshi.
I hope he gets better moves.
To anyone who cares, I'm not banned. I left of my own accord. This place is dead to me now.

It describes thousands of thoughts and impulses, adding up to a whole that is uniquely different than the sum of its parts. |
True, but we're not comprised of a multitude of souls.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
The warrior known as Ermac is basically a vessal, nothing more. The souls that make him up are what controls him. And he could be under control of evil souls at the moment, but at any second, the good souls might try to take control. And if they do, then they are in control, and then the evil side would try to take control, it's basically just a spiritual game of tug-a-war.
That would explain why he was working for Shao Khan in MK3, and good in Deception (I'm not saying he is, but it's a strong possibillity). He was under control of souls loyal to Khan during MK3, and after being released by Kenshi (probably), he is under control of the good souls.
Confused? I sure am.

Maybe we'll find out if he's a football or American Football fan.
