Does anyone know where the look of quan chi in MKD & MKDA is inspired from?

Does anyone know where the look of quan chi in MKD & MKDA is inspired from? I know other characters and looks a inspired by certain mythologies and martial arts stylles and cultures but i was wondering where quan chis look, white skin etc was inspired or is it purely 100% boon
I think It was John tobias who came up with the design in the first place then some other artist came up with the look for MKDA.
Ed is a programmer not an artist.

I know that i just ment is quan chi myth related or fabricated by boons team.....
