Tanya has as much potential as any character. It's all in what they do with her that will make that difference. If they do nothing, she'll amount to nothing.

Tanya is a horrible character with no potential whatsoever IMO. She doesnt play a decent role and her story is lame.

I HATED tanya in mk4.. that's why I hope they REALLY improve her... because when I first saw her I had high expectaions... but she let me down ... :'(
I REALLY hope they don't just give her her old moves back... and they give her a decen story... not just some satanistic little spoiled brat

Tanya....let's see.....I would say her chances are very high just because her story wasn't complety done. We also saw wat looked to be Tanya in a trailer during puzzle kombat. I'd say 75% that she would return.

I think playability-wise she has as much potential as any other character.
Storyline-wise I think she has a lot of potential and could go far.

This was I story I wrote for her in the Deception speculation thread a while ago:
It was believed that Tanya was the daughter of the Edenian Ambassador. Adopted daughter to be exact. In truth, Tanya's real parents were rebels against Shao Kahn's rule who were assassinated by his best warrior: Kitana. Tanya never forgot this and has planned for years to gain her revenge. However, much to Tanya's dismay, Kitana turned against Shao Kahn and has won the approval of the people of Edenia. Furious that Kitana has redeemed herself into a hero, Tanya's rage and bitterness only grew. Tanya secretly allowed Shinnok to invade Edenia, but with his defeat, her betrayal was discovered and she was banished as a traitor. Tanya has now returned as a warrior for the Dragon King and is eager to do his bidding in return for a chance to kill Kitana.

I think this works because it gives Tanya a pretty decent motivation for being a traitor and a reason to be around. It could also could create an interesting fued with Mileena, because I don't see Mileena being willing to share her revenge.

Tanya has as much potential as anyone else.

If done well, she could really rock.

I think the key to whether she is liked or disliked could be in how well her Boomerang is put to use.

First: Storyline wise - A game with the theme of "Deception" is the perfect place for this evil character to be....This game is almost tailor made for a character like Tanya. She's all about mind gamea and betrayal. I believe she'll have Major involvments with Sindel and Mileena, not to mention the DK. I really think she'll could be a favorite this time around.

Second: Fighting wise - Like her or not...Tanya, fighting wise, was great in MK4 She had effective moves, a great weapon and RIDICULOUS speed. In Deception, with two fighting styles and a weapon, with her speed intact...I believe she has the potential to be one of the most devastating fighters in the game.

I never liked Tanya. I'm sorry to say this but I hope she isn't in MK:D.

She is definitely in. She was confirmed a long time ago. There's a lot of people that didn't like Tanya, but with the three fighting styles and a new look....I think she'll be great. You might find yourself surprised by her in this game.

Definitely.. Tanya owns in MK4. I played a lot of local MK4 tournaments..I'm not the greatest player ever, but I won a lot with Tanya.

I also hve to agree that Tanya has a TON of potential! Her special moves were great, but I would like to see her fireballs replaced by her boomerang as a regular projectile throw, then have ANOTHER weapon for melee attacks. She should keep her Corkscrew Kick. I'd like to see the Splits Kick replaced with another close-range move to round her out more.

As far as her story, LOTS of potential there also. I want to see more of her trickery and deceit, but against multiple characters to keep us constantly guessing her real motives.

I hate her more than any of the MK4 rejects, mainly because she was just there as a lame replacement for Kitana. And because she wore yellow. But if the developers expand her character and give her more originality in terms of weapon and moves and personality, I'm willing to give her a chance.

But I'm not counting on anything.

Agreed 100%! Great ideas. Especiall as far as her story goes...have you seen tgrant's story idea for her? It's great.

Tanya has huge potential in the future of mk games. I think that mk has been dominated by ninjas for too long and there needs to be more females involved. Besides her story could use some development.

I didn't like Tanya in MK4 but seeing what they make out of old characters I'd say she's gonna look saweeeeeett!!

To put it simply, every character in MK:D has potential, Why? Because nobody has played it yet so there is no way to tell.

Could Tanya be the Deception? If I remember correctly, Tanya's ending involved her leading Liu Kang into a passage that led him into a trap. Although I doubt that Tanya would have such a leading role to be the "deceptor". Just a thought.

Well you have to remember... The game, Boon said, will hold multiple deceptions these deceptions will touch all characters...so I don't think there is a just a single massive deception...it's just a deception theme and EVERYONE will be decieved one way or another. This is why I believe Tanya fits quite nicely into this game. Can't wait see her!

Boon said but i forgot where he said that Tanya will look COMPLETLY different. She will still be sporting yellow as you see in the puzzle kombat but she will look waaay different than from MK4.

I just thought of something I think would absolutely rock.

This is an alternate costume for Tanya.

It would basically be what the Bride in "Kill Bill" wore in the Shodown at house of Blue Leaves Chapter. Ironically when Thurman wore that, it was also a tribute to the great Bruce Lee in one of his movies, might of been "Game of death."

For those that don't know it's a full body yellow jump-suit with thin black stripes down the arms I think. The look would suit Tanyas character perfectly.
