posted02/28/2004 10:55 AM (UTC)byMK is an interesting franchise because despite wanting to go on to new and better things consistently keeps aware of its fans and their input. I'm hoping that some of the extras in MKD will repay the hardcore fanatics.
These are by no means original ideas, but I think they may be worthy of a consideration.
1. An incintive, like in the Madden Football games, where certain unlockables can only be accessed if there is a record of prior EA games on the memory card. I wouldn't go that extreme, but if there is a MKDA profile on memory, perhaps some alternate costumes from MKDA will become unlocked in MKD.
2. I'm really not sure about this one, which would be alot like Soul Calibur, when certain players were exclusive to certain platforms, but I own an XBox and PS2, and I'm likely to buy the game for both systems (preordered Xbox MKD already). Perhaps this can be done by adding two characters to the lineup--say Smoke and Kabal--and having one exclusive to each console. This'd be a good move for Midway and the respective consoles--MK freaks like me would either be disgusted or want to try both out, and they'll probably sell more games that way, at least marginally so--the respective consoles might sell a few more as well.
etc.
I'm wondering if it'll use the PS2 hardrive or the X Box's--or perhaps even have downloadable stages/characters/weapons/costumes.

Another idea I like immensely is somewhat similar to MKDA's fan art contest, except upped to a large extent. In this contest, perhaps fans can submit sketches for alternate costumes of MK kharacters (or, even better, sketches, story ideas, and move/fatal ideas for fan-conceived new characters). Most likely this is impossible at this stage of development--as it would take months to sift through fan submissions and just as long to include the new characters/models.

i think it'd be cool if each Kombatant had certain skills... like there were rankings in speed and power and weapon ability... and the more you play and win, the better your kombatant would get...
and then you could take your kombatant online and play against others... this way, the matches will never be the same and if people arnt as good as you, but maybe have spent a lot of time learning one character, their abilities earned may make it more even...
the skills could increase or decrease based on how you use em in fights... i dunno, i just think that would make it great(er)... as long as making the kombatant perfect is a real challenge and not continuing to use them would result in a loss of skill over time...

About Me
Lui Kang was a good start. Sonya would be a good next choice.

Like I said before, I would like to see an extra which recollects the storyline of all the previous games.
