What are your thoughts on the inclusion of all the characters in this game?
There are 8 confirmed new characters. That is an awful lot of new blood to introduce. Do you think it is a good thing?
From MKDA there are only 6 returning characters which isn't many for a game with as many characters they have included. You'd think that a sequel would have a majority of the characters returning? Well there are 17 characters that have not reappeared for the sequel to MKDA. Quite strange i think.
17 excluded vs 6 included is a big difference.
Even though there are 11 characters returning from games prior to MKDA, i still don't understand why more of those wouldn't have been included in MKDA. The dev team knew where MKDA was going toward the dragon king and surely they would've had some idea on story, so why include so many characters that were going nowhere and exclude characters that would return?
From a storyline perspective it doesn't make real sense. But i guess from a marketing view it does.
Are you happy with the overall inclusion of all the new or older classic characters? Are you happy with the exclusion of the majority of the cast from MKDA?

My guess is a lot of people got killed. In MK4 we only saw Quan-Chi in the next game until now that they added Tanya. Think of all the new characters that get used once and are done away with.
From MKDA:
Hsu Hao
Frost
Nitara
Drahmin
Mavado
Blaze
That's all I can remember.

I think it's interesting how Frost and Mavado weren't added to the roster, especially with the Lin Kuei becoming a huge part of the story thanks to Sub-Zero becoming the Grandmaster.

She'll probably be of some importance in the next game. Mavado's absence is the one that puzzles me though seeing as he most likely killed Kano and damn near killed Kenshi and Kabal, you figure Kira, Kenshi, and Kabal would all have something to settle with him.
I liked Frost and Mavado for who there were and the team did a good job making her unique from Subby. I bet they will return in MK7, just give Mavado better styles and special moves. He had Wing Chun and that's Jet Li's style. For anyone who played Rise to Honor, lol Mavado was nowhere near that good.

Well maybe the storyline will tell us why some of them arent here.
There was one theory that all the portals to outworld from earth were closed as Hsu hao had destroyed them, and this tournament was happening there, so a lot of characters wouldnt be able to get to Outworld. but dunno whats happening wi that.

To be honest, I'm more than happy about the announced and rumored roster.
In my opinion, it looks like they're making a lot of "future" design choices. They're trying to make sure that the series continues to grow and expand while coming into an all new generation.
It started with MKDA. To me, that was something they put together to test the waters. A new game system that had a fair share of flaws but also managed to bring something new to the table. The character roster was lacking originality but topped that of MK4.
MKD looks to be building on that in every way. Deception is building on the fighting engine and starting to come into its own, officially. To me, the most interesting of DA's roster has returned (Kenshi).. By bringing back the Classic "one shot" characters (Kabal, Ermac, etc) and many interesting new faces (Havik, Hotaru) it seems that they're planning for the future.
They're trying to shift the focus onto characters that haven't ever had the spotlight while still maintaining that Mortal Kombat feel...
