Rumor has it over at midway, that coin-ciding with the release of Freddy vs. Jason on August 15th 2003 nationwide with over 43 million viewers expected to show on opening day (due to recent poll events), that production on two more NEW characters for the MK franchise will begun. The reasoning behind this is, due to Midways financial dissruption in the economy, it has left Midway seeking help from other sources of income.
Now apparently New Line Cinema has offered to lend a helping hand to Midway on the condition that the two horror franchise names must be included in whatever new form or path Mortal Kombat decides to take. The statement also indicated that it might not even be Mortal Kombat: TE which will introduce these new fighters but it may also be in time for an MK 6 release due late 2004. Midway has not accepted the offer yet, but sources say that Midway isn't running away from it neither.
