I visited some other site earlier today and they gave the same score of 9.5

I got the issue today, and it was actually the second highest rated game in the issue. It was beaten by "Fable" for "Game of the Month". However, the average review for Deception was roughly 9.25 (one was a 9.5, the other a 9.0), while Fable just barely beat it with an average of 9.5. So close! DAMN IT! Still waiting to see what EGM is going to review it... they'll probably bash it since they've become such tight-asses.

I really think Reiner, whom I usually respect, took too much of a casual gamer approach to Deception. He basically spoke nothing of the actual fighting engine, and when he did all he did was praise the breakers (blah). The rest of the review was basically spent talking about everything else in the game.
Basically it's like this. If you're just a casual gamer (that doesn't understand or care about a good and deep fighting engine, which is ok) then this game is worth that score.
If you are an experienced fighting game gamer that knows the shittyness of DA's engine and have been keeping track of this game I'd knock that score down to maybe a 7.5 or maybe a little lower.

It's too bad that Fable is more of a disappointment than Super Mario Sunshine :((((
