I was just thinking, after MK3 was made Midway releaed UMK3 and MKT; after MK4, MKGold for Dreamcast; and after MKDA, MKTE for GBA. These games usually seem to be looked at (especially UMK3 and MKT) as half-assed and "broken." It's like they're just rehashes with a few more characters designed to rake in a few more bucks.
Do you guys think something like this will be done with MKD? Will they toss in a few new characters and backgrounds, and release it on just one console (hmm...Gamecube, perhaps?) Or will MKD be a complete enough game to extinguish any reason for such a remake?

MKD won't be a half assed game! Look at how long they've spent working on it and look at all the improvements! If anything, MKDA was the half-assed game! MKD is its improvement!

I dont think that is what MK:D will be. In the case of MK3 to UMK3, they released MK3 the way it was because they were not yet fully done with everything they wanted to implement ie: characters, animalities, etc etc, so while yes it coudl be called a ploy to rake in more bucks, it was actually a way for them to put out a good game (well if you like mk3 or umk i dont) so poeple could get a good feel for it, then they released UMK the intended finished product. MK:D to me seems to be a serious effort by Boon and crew to make the MK they have always wanted to. I think if they wanted to rehash MK:DA they could have thrown in a few more fighters and given everyone an extra fatality and thrown it online. They wouldnt have needed to add chess, puzzle, konquest, all the unlockables, death traps, environments, etc etc, if they had just wanted to rehash MK:DA. Just my .02 cents

That's not what I meant. I didn't ask if MKD will be a rehash of MKDA, I'm saying MKTE was the rehash of DA, and asking if, AFTER MKD is released, you think they will make a rehash OF MKD with new characters, half-assed new features, etc.

my bad, I apologize, somehow I think after MK:D with all the new features they have added, and with the competition it will face (DOA online and the Capcom compliation fighter and Iron Phoenix) I dont think they will settle for a re-hash after such an innovative sequel. I wouldn't be surprised if Boon and crew worked on somethign different before the next MK, after doing MK:DA and then Deception back to back, they might want a breath of fresh air. Hopefully their non-mk efforts get better, The Grid wasnt too bad, but it wasn't great either!

I would't mind having a trilogy-esq game after Deception. I want all the name plated Chars up through Decepetion in one game, Playable rehashed backgrounds from previous games wouldn't be bad either. That way i dont have to switch out the disc to go play the chars from mk3 or mk4 that aren't in Deception. It would be a good end before they start on thier next big change in the MK universe.
As for Deception being different for the consoles, I doubt it. If anything, Deception needs to be the same and be able to fight Ps2 vs Xbox online.

That's exactly what it is.
Except that we gamers had to have something to play so instead of taking a long long time to get the finished version, they gave us the brief half-assed game, if you call it so.

I don't believe MKD will need a rehash, but from what I can see, there really is no such thing as a complete MK game. We already know Boon had to cut the online tournament mode because time was low. But I have yet to by any MK extension, with the exception of trilogy(which I don't regret). If there is a vast improvement, I'll check it out.
What are you talking about? MK:DA was great. It changed everything to 3D and made everything look fantastic.

I'm talking about how lame many of we old school MK fans thought MK:DA was in comparison to the hype surrounding its release. It looked decent, not fantastic, and the game play was broken and seemingly untested in many areas. These are things that I hope they remedy with MK:D. I sincerely hope it isn't rushed out the door in the same fashion MK:DA was.
