I think the cyberninja was always scheduled to be Smoke, but I wouldn't cross out Sektor and Cyrax as Super Unlockables.

I don't think cyber ninjas are over. Far from it. Sektor will show up. If not this game, the next one.

Cyrax now has a soul within him with some of his humanity. He now works for the US Special Forces / Outerworld Investigation Agency since Sonya and Jax were the ones who revived him.
Sektor is a psychotic robot who's programming is all wired and warped. He has since traveled to Japan where he has been creating an army of cyber-ninjas known as the Tekunin. They are taking over Japan...
Smoke has been hidden deep beneath Shao Kahn's fortress all this time, just unconscious. (My guess is, he was thought to have died during MK3 - how I don't know - but he's just been here the whole time). Well, Noob Saibot has found him and now he's programming him to do his will and he's given him a special something to give him some more UMPH.
So, to put it bluntly
Cyrax = good robot
Sektor = bad robot
Smoke = conflicted robot

I just hope that "mystery" character (cough...Liu Kang..cough..) is not the only super unlockable, or I'll be friggin pissed. I want Sektor & Sareena!
Cyrax is probably under capture of Onaga based on Ermac's tale of freeing prisoners, along with the other DA characters that aren't playable in MKD.
Sektor may be unlockable as a super, because his look in MKD is slightly altered from his look in Tournament Edition & MK Gold.
I still think when you unlock Noob Smoke, they should have a weapon style...maybe during the first round, it'll be Noob's, & the second it'll be Smoke's, then the pattern continues.

The figure in the bottom left can cleary be identified as Smoke, as he currently appears in Deception. The figure in the middle right, however, appears to have the build of a classic cyber-ninja's head. (Squared head, with an indent in the middle of black area, and a facial mask in that shape)
That being said, if the right middle one is indeed a Cyber-Ninjas head (which for all I know it may not be, this is merely theorizing) Then since him and Smoke were both on the same screen, our Cyber-Ninja's still unknown.
Now, Smoke has been said in the newest Noob-Smoke bio, to have been "reformatted" or something to that effect, into a newer brand of Cyber-Ninja by Noob, thus explaining his new look. Cyrax is now more of a human, and only wears his old plating as armor, so it could be him, but the only Cyber-Ninja who is still known to be stuck with that face, and only that face, is Sektor.
Furthermore, if you'll check the recently posted Iguide Krypt FAQ's, one of the rewards (I forget which, but its in there) is listed as concept art for Sektor and Smoke. And I highly doubt this is MK3 art, because 1st of all, then it would be "Ketchup" and "Mustard" (Sektor and Cyrax), because Smoke was just a pallette swapped afterthought, like so many secret characters, and 2ndly, because that art was already in the DA krypt.
Now I know Concept art is hardly concrete evidence either, but the mere fact that it exists suggests that at some point in production, they were at least -considering- using Sektor.
Now, what this all means, I can't say. Maybe Sektor is still buried in the game somewhere. Maybe he was completely cut. Maybe he was never there at all, and that headshot was Cyrax, or someone completely different. I don't know.
All I'm saying is, these are the conclusions I draw from the evidence. I'm not trying to argue that Sektor is in the game, as I'm only a minor Sektor fan at best. (Though he does have a special place in my heart as the 1st person I ever picked in MK3) These are merely my thoughts on the matter, take them as you will. And Sektor13, feel free to get a hard on. : )

I'm not sure Liu Kang is the super unlockable. He appears in the character select screen along with Raiden as one of the 24 characters and if I remember correctly, Boon & Co. said there would be other hiddens not shown in the select screen.

Cyrax isn't working for Onaga. He has no part in MKD. He's back home in Earthrealm.
It's been confirmed that Onaga is using Reptile's body, which means Reptile's ending happened, which means that Nitara and Cyrax's endings also happened. So, Cyrax is back home safe....for now. He has no idea what is going on. I'm sure he's confused as to where Sonya and Jax are and why the Special Forces base has been destroyed.

We don't know that Cyrax is home, we only know that Nitara sent him somewhere.
Nitara was a shadey double-sided character with lots of hidden motives. Though she did seem halfway honorable, and very well may have kept her word, she was also a schemer. Who knows where she may have sent Cyrax?

That select screen is just a lil old. Look at Conqrr's newer thread. He has a pic of the newer select screen. the pic in question is not on that select screen anymore.

I said, based on that old screenshot, and what we know, it can be concluded that at one time Sektor may have been in, and still might be hidden.

Even though I would like Sektor to be in here just as much as anyone else I doubt hes in here as a character or unlockable. At most hes in konquest mode but not playable. But dont take my word just wait for the game to come out and see.

Call me pessimist if you want, but I don't think there is an other cyber ninja in the game... In the old select screen, we could see Smoke near to Ermac square, ok, but i dont think the "other supposed cyber ninja square" contained really a cyber ninja... :/
