There was more blood in MK5, but because the colors are not vivid, you don't notice it much after you get into the game. I know baraka's blade special move was one of the bloodiest moves in MK, one of the many many reasons why he's a favorite.

baraka's blade fury is his signature move like the spear is to scorpion and the ice ball is to subzero... baraka better have that move in MK6!

oh yeah and about the blood, I think Ed Boon said that he thinks fans don't want realism because it's boring.. I think the exaggeration of the blood spills is done purposely to make it appeal more. But I do agree that there is too much blood, I think that MK1 had the best blood out of all the games. It was just the right amount.

hey you got to have the blood the blood makes the game happen so what if there are little pink bubbles and if there head comes off it looks like bloody popcorn, your missing the point here, Mortal Kombat isnt and shouldnt even be considered the least bit realistic and yes the blood in DA is a little too much, but what can you do the game is great and no one really gives a shit that much about the blood cause if they did they wouldnt play it or talk on a forum about it all day. But the blood should be strickin to what type of person you are controling IE a human or a dude named scorpion someone that can spit fire and has a skull for a face. As for cybernetic robots named Cyrax they should has the oil substance like they had in MK3 cause blood from a robot dont make sense, and if you have a dude with no skin named Drahmin and he bleeds for 60 hours after you rip his head off then i guess people are goign to complain about that being shitty. so i dunno some people like blood being over done some people hate pink little bubbles but your not the one devoloping it so you cant have it your way i guess

baraka's blade fury is baraka's trademark move just like cyrax's net, but we see the net magically disappear in mk5. I would have preferred the net over that foolish ring around the rozie move.
