to be honest, I dont think much about him. He's the only new character that doesn't really interest me. he might turn out to be the best in the game, but he does nothing for me.

When I heard about a samuri character I thought it'd be great, and he may still turn out to be good, but I also hate those stupid flags - and I hope it doesn't spoil the character. (Hopefully Dairou will be in the game as well)

So far, Hotaru is my favourite of the MKD newcomers. That dark samurai style armour and his spear looks great. About time MK had a samurai style character.

I dont really look forward to new characters. I usually look forward to the original fighters. Hotaru does look pretty cool. I dont mind the flags either.

I'm still going with hotaru really being drahmin, just like drahmin had 2 poles coming out of his back it could be hotaru's flags.

and li mei now kicks ass also, a female DK army person, that is a kickass idea.

and if thats true about who smoke really is, i cant read to further read his storyline, he has the major twist in the whole game series.

The flags are to add to his samurai story/look. samurai often wore such flags into battle to show what side they are on, and other such reasons. Its pretty much the only thing that looks samurai about him. Atleast that I have noticed. He is much better with them.

Iownyou, it is probably more likely that the flags are there to resemble firefly wings, or to show his clan (probably the "Firefly" clan).

I'm really looking forward to Hotaru, but I wish they'll make him either Good or Neutral. I think he'll be the Kenshi of Deception.

if he's nethin like ne of the samurais in the last samurai film he'll b quite a brilliant character, dunno wot his fightin styles will b though, i've always thought of samurais as sword combantants not hand 2 hand.

Hotaru is definitely awesome, I love this new character, Skab is my second favorite as of now.

Those weren't poled but knives, actually. Drahmin was likely knifed in the back in his previous life, before he came to the Netherealm.

Anyhow, I also like Hotaru. I just hope that the flags won't be like Yoshimitsu's in SC, because those really disturbed me...

Hotaru is my favorite newbie so far, going on just looks alone. Samurai is exactly what MK needs. I pray the rumors I've read that Hotaru and Dairou are in fact the same, are not true. Plus on the new trailer that Samurai that walks by in red armor looks amazing (my guess is it may be Dairou) Deffinitely a plus for Deception. And the flags look great, my only concern would be if you'd just phase through them if you jump over him. It's tradition Samurai atire with a MK twist.

i like Hotaru's second costume(the one with the helmet) best. I hope he gets a samurai sword out for his weapon!!!!!(goes into a state of deep sleep, waiting for the arrival of Hotaru......)

he looks pretty cool, though his outfit doesnt look like anything a samurai would wear. the flags are the only thing that make him look oriental. without the flags, he looks like a knight.
