I was very sick of Liu Kang. I also was glad to see him die in MKDA. Hopefully with Liu in Deception they have changed him. He has such potential, but is pretty much a worthless fighter. Very generic. Let's see what happens to him in Deception.

MKDA was a nice break from him. I'll wait and see what he has to offer this time around. With him being dead, it's unlikely he'll be the champion again. He'll probably have a major role though and he should be a lot better than he was before.

Not me! Liu Kang is Mortal Kombat. Has been since MKI.

This is something that I keep reading and I'm getting mad at. Apparently, most don't know the history of MK. If you really want to get into it, there was only ONE real tourny. That was MK1. Lui Kang won that tourny. Then in MK2, it wasn't a real Mortal Kombat Tournament. It was a plot by Shao Kahn To get the earth realm warriors to Outworld so that he could kill them and take over Earthrealm. Soon after, Shoa Kahn put into plan to reclaim Sindel (during the MK2 "tourny"). He brings her back, which opens the gates to earth, and then takes all of the Earthrealm souls as his own. The people who he couldn't take (mainly the MK warriors) fought him to get the earth back. That's MK3, but that wasn't a tourny either. Shinnok comes out of the Netherrealm, and does stuff. (MK4 wasn't my favorite and didn't really play it) But I do know for sure that it wasn't a tournament. Then MKDA, he's killed, so he's not the winner.

There it is. Shortened for time, but it's there. The only real Mortal Kombat Tournament was MK1, which Lui Kang won. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Me, myself and I. Liu Kang sucks. I had no problem with him being Earth's champion, for the first 2 times they rehashed him, but by MK3 I was sick of him.

I have no problem with him being in Deception though, since all my favorite characters are already confirmed and were not sacrified to make space for Liu Kang.

I'm really not a fan of Bruce Lee clones myself though luckily, he eventually evolved somewhat past that. He's middle ground for me.

like bezou said, liu kang is mortal kombat to me, ah the old days of my father, friends, and myself going down to the arcade to load up on MK, i would always play liu kang and if i got pissed off i would bicycle-kick them into submission, *Sniff* im glad liu's comming back. and if you dont like him, dont play as him...

I've always been a big fan of Liu Kang. I was pleased at the decision to kill him off in MKDA, though, as it was dramatically different and took the storyline in a new direction.

With rumours abound as to Liu's purpose and alignment in MKD, it'll be interesting to see what team MK have planned.

One thing- it's easy to argue MK3/UMK3/MKT wasn't a tournament...BUT what about the introduction to MK3? It explicitally states that the Earth warriors' souls are saved so they can take part in "a new Mortal Kombat" to determine the fate of Earth.
"Mortal Kombat" is the name given to the tournament- so MK3 was a tournament as well. No?

Love him, hate him, you can't deny that his inclusion is the biggest news we've gotten since the announcement of MKD.

And it's certainly clogging up the server.

I've always hate Kang..at first, I just hated his style/voice..then I resented his 'Bruce Lee' appearance...I really started "hating" Liu when he was 'crowned' official champion and 'best' fighter/warrior in Mortal Kombat (I've always hated the official champs..especially the generic "goody lil two-shoes"

~If he were to be given a DRASTIC change in persona..I might just have a change of heart...(If he was to turn 'evil' for some reason...I could even begin to like him) For now though..a punching bag is ALL he'll EVER be
One more thing~ Who really thought a character like Kang embodied the original MK game!? If anyone it would be people like Goro, Shang , and 'the ninjas'...Kang didn't really stand out aside from his "bicycle Kick" -that's just my opinion though..

Maybe if you hadn't been four when MK came out, you might understand.

I just think it cheapened the whole beginning of DA. They made it all dramatic, but who cares now, hes alive and well (well, walking around anyway). I assume then that Shang is dead, since he consumed Lui's soul. Ah well, there goes my favorite, because no way would he still be alive and let Lui get away.

kaiohx - Yeah, but look at it this way; it's Mortal Kombat which means even if Shang IS dead, he can come back!

I'm tired of Liu Kang. He better be evil in MK:D, no zombie/ghost can be good. Either way i'd rather see Rain or Reptile back.

I might be the 1% that says this, but I'm NOT tired of Liu Kang. Maybe if he lost once or twice he'd be all right. 'Nuff said.

I'd rather see Scorpion dissapear. But that's just me.

For me the more fighters the better. If You are sick of someone don't use them. More charecters, means more moves, means more fatalities.

MK is imcompleet without Liu Kang.
