That's just certain peoples opinions...

... Since my point is regarding those opinions, in particular reference to the already closed off Vertigo fanbase, that's a given. Yes.

I dare say the majority perspective from outside the MK fanbase is laughs all around. I'm not submitting it for debate; I'm just relaying one of the many factors working against most licensed crossovers with other brands -- particularly Vertigo, which is already kept on the top shelf where MK fans can't reach.

Stories like V for Vendetta, rightly or wrongly, transcend the medium to garner literary acclaim. As much as movies and action figure tie-ins have exposed the unwashed masses to the brand, through colourful martial arts and mainstream actors, that doesn't make the material any more accessible to a maligned video game franchise, infamously recognised for it's cartoon violence, and malformed fanbase.
A fanbase currently kicking and screaming about the loss of said cartoon violence; which will probably only lose the superficial conclusion of fatality, given the bredth afforded to a modern T rating that isn't hampered inhouse by the likes of Nintendo.

There's a lot of logic working against any chance of Vertigo meeting MK.

It was just a concept, and know chances are small of Vertigo characters getting involved....

But on the majority laughing at MK now, I beg to differ and you'll always find your oldschool fans that love the older games despite which direction MK goes now. In fact a lot of other sites I go to with casual Mk fans or fighting game fans are actually interested, sadly most of the MK fans that I've seen so far which is the one 50% of fans not too fond of this idea are on MKO, Midway mainly.

On a side note, I don't even think most MK fans are aware of Vertigo series and vice versa honestly....from what I've read on here and on dcomics...

Yep. In a round about way, I'm answering your original.

"How would you feel if V and Constantine were to be in MK8?"
Shock and dismay. Many reasons, already disclosed.

I'm definitely not denying the existence of those people, but even "old school gamers" on the whole would presumably have their leanings toward superior alternatives, like Street Fighter.

I wouldn't want to bring up sources like EGM, but I think it's pretty well established within the gaming community that MK isn't well regarded. And why would it be? Obviously there are a lot of fans disappointingly in it for the cheap thrill of being "naughty" and ripping spines out -- but I'd like to think most of us appreciate the series for the concessions we've given for potential of the characters, achieved and not.

Seven different coloured ninja swaps and corny gimmicks aren't exactly cause for interest. Obviously there are enough people interested to keep the franchise afloat, but, on the whole, there's no argument. As long as Street Fighter and other franchises have any dignity, the companies and their fans probably wouldn't be caught dead with MK.

DC don't have those expectations within the medium, making it a reasonable consolation. At the same time... The news isn't exactly setting the comics world on fire. Those who aren't significantly indifferent are either mocking the franchise, or yes, casually interested.

But on the whole, MK's a bit of a joke.
Sure, I'm a fan, and will defend the underlying merits, but... I don't know if there's enough of an argument to compensate for the series' faults and the silly gimmickery that many MK fans mistake for genuinely "mature content".

Probably because adult reading isn't as high on the priority list as silly violence; and comic retailers are probably more responsible when it comes to selling mature rated products. Lord knows this is probably the first time a good chunk of MK fans are going to be buying an MK game that's rated within their age bracket!

All the characters you guys are talking about are creations of Alan Moore. And there is NO way he would let DC put them into ANY video game.

He's already filed a million lawsuits againts DC and Marvel.

as he should have, The film adaptations of V for Vendetta and Costantine were terrible.

Ironically; aren't those particularly movies two of the few things not subject to legislation? tongue

lol, EGM sucks dude they're so Sony biased and hate just about all Ubisoft and Midway games lol, so I really take their views with a grain if salt.

MK is not a joke if it were it would be dead completely, KI now is "dead" or a joke...MK isn't
Not to mention SF is awesome I agree but a lot of fans got pissed off with the alpha series and need I mention EX? lol...

And dude most fighters have a "group" of ninjas, samarais etc like SF with Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gen etc...so it's not just MK with the ninjas lol

Besides at least the MK ninjas look "different" now where SF is still keeping Ryu and Ken looking the "same" lol

Everything has a gimmick at times but to say MK isn't mature is just inaccurate, that's like saying Freddy or Jason aren't slasher films...
