The first mortal kombat game I ever played was Deadly alliance. So when they said that mk vs dc was going to be like the 2d games I really did not care. But I recently bought ultimate MK3 for the Xbox live arcade... I have to say I love it. the fast pace action, the jumping and ducking. I got pretty good at it and now I am even more excited for mk vs dc. I now understand why everyone liked the idea of mk vs dc being like the 2d games

uuuummmm yeah

It's indeed pretty awesome to see 2D making an impact in this day in age. MK vs DC looks great. Street Fighter IV is looking to be a beast. Great time to be a fighting game fan.

The core game play is essentially 2D. The sidestepping is just a positioning mechanic.

I'm skeptical and feel like maybe this 2D thing has been talked up a little bit by excited fans who are going to be disappointed when they find out that like, it's just MKD with different sidestep commands and a slightly improved aerial game or something. I really hope it's more 2D than not, though.

I think it would be better if it were full 2D controls cause I dont know how that sidestepping will work with a arcade stick.

Good point. : \ Trying to input u,u on a stick to SS is pretty retarded. Then again, it worked fine for Tekken.

I love the 2D element because I'm a big jumper in fighting games and I love to be able to launch jump attacks. That's why I loved MK and MK2 (I know MK3 had it too, but I hated that game) and it's why Soul Blade/Edge is still the best game in the Soul series.

Anyway, not only are jump kicks back, but the turnaround kicks that they introduced in MK2 are back. I remember those were controversial when MK2 came out, but most fans including me grew to love them and I'm thrilled that they are back! I'll take jump attackes over dial-a-combos any day of the week! Now you'll actually have to think to make your own combos, and that's the way it should be.

Great time to be a fighting game fan.

No kidding. Last year the only fighter was virtua 5, and the rest of the good games where fps's. This year and next year are looking a lot better for fighting fans.
