Hi all
I am a little disappointed with this game but that is not the question
If DC characters did not appear in MK, would you accept all these new features, like close combat, free fall, test your might with walls, etc, as a new MK Game?

I cant tell if you guys are being sarcastic or not, but the DC characters make the game look stupid as hell.
I was worried at first when I heard about the game initially. DC was way down on the bottom of my list when it came to the topic of who would the MK characters fight in a Vs. game (Top three were Soul Calibur, Marvel, or Star Wars) but the more I think about it the more I like the idea.
Now back to the originaly question. I would probably want to buy the game even more if it did not have the DC characters.

Yes, I think the game would have had most of those features.
But I do enjoy the fact that DC is there.
They make me smile and the game more interesting.
Mk needed a change.
*Off topic:
I really wish that people would stop saying that the character movements for the DC characters are too similar to that of the Mk characters, then using Marvel Vs. Capcom as their example to what it should look like. M vs C was a 2D fighter and went through a completely different process when being created. It's much easier to show diffrences in stances when all the characters are drawn versus rendered. :D

I agree with MQS. The DC characters just make this game look cheesy.
There's some DC characters who could have made the game look cool and dark. Unfortunately, the iconic DC characters aren't the ones.

Rather like this game we wouldn't have gotten a choice. You can't say to Ed Boon and say "I dont like the look of this game because of the above additions and I will only being purchasing this game if they are removed."
The only way you can effectively tell Midway you dont like the look of this game because of gameplay mechanics is to try the game yourself and send an e-mail and hope they get the message unfortunately .
But I do think MK fans would have accepted a "MK8" with the above gameplay mechanics. But only MK fans would have played the game and the cycle from MK:DA>MK:A would have begun again.

The DC characters are one of the major reasons why I'm buying this game. Ill take Batman over halfassed new characters.
Green Lantern>Hotaru
Deathstroke> Darrius
Captain Marvel> Bo Rai Cho
good new characters post Tobais are few and far between, Kenshi and Havok are about it.

No. These elements are all very comic-bookish.

Coming from the same guy who once said "If the city of Alantis is lost, how can Rihanna appear their twice a year?" XD. Any way DC was a Godsend. I'm the biggest MK fan boy but I DON'T think for a second that MK is above DC. Are you kidding me? More like the other way around.
I feel as though the point of the thread is being overlooked here. From what I can tell it's not about the positives or negatives of DC's inclusion, it's about the features of the game and whether or not we'd accept them as a new Mortal Kombat entry.
Which I think is really a damn good question.
I think most people would probably be pissed if this game was MK8. Essentially it would look to be MKA without multiple fighting styles, and some gimmicky gameplay features which really aren't necessary and may or may not add positively to the game. Personally I wouldn't mind that at all if the move animations were fixed and logical move properties were applied. Although I'd still be furious about this rage mode bullshit. But yeah. It doesn't appear that Midway have really made much of an effort to apply logical move properties or remedy their shoddy move animations at all.
I guess I'm facepalming as it is, but without the DC characters and as a standalone MK game, this game's inadequacies would be even more obvious. I don't think a lot of fans would even give it a chance, and rightfully so. I never thought about how much of distraction DC's inclusion is though. Pretty big by the looks of things.

You mean the new engine but all MK? so all 20 are MK?
I'd like it, but as others have said before me , DC just makes it that much sweeter.

i think it might have been cool to have mortal kombat vs. soul calibur or street fighter but really, come on, Star Wars?!?! that would be horrible! it works with soul calibur but mk vs. star wars would not be good at all.I was worried at first when I heard about the game initially. No, it's really not.

That's only because of DC's longterm mainstream exposure.
If MK were endlessly promoted through every facet of entertainment, it would be the same as DC and Marvel. It doesn't mean that DC is necessarily better by default.

DC is a comics company that's been around since the forties
MK is a video game franchise started in '92.
DC could sit MK on its knee and tell it about the cost of sody pop while MK had doe eyes with wonder.
