Why care about people if they're not bloody and on your carpet right now?

I don't give a **** about online. Work on the actual game! Online fighting games don't do too well!

So I've heard. The game probably won't have online play in the end.

Yes they should indeed work more on the gameplay, but hey they can make online work. Does anybody remember Xband for snes and genesis, man that was so tight everybody always kicked my ass w/ Kitana on mk2 and smoke in mk3

To me the big question(s) are :
1. How much will it cost( with MK:D A selling 2 million says alot about it, and you can bet that Midway will use MK online to make even more money even after people bought the game)
2. MK6 Broadband only?
3. will 56k users have a lose out on MK6 online?

The GunnaPig says "who Cares about online play"?
It will end up costing us 50 plus bucks for
for another unfinished game.
They will say Mk6 was the "working out the bugs
game,wait until Mk7 comes out".
that's what will happen.

However, for those who need more reassurance that Mortal Kombat 6 will be
online, you have it now.

No, actually I don't. All he said is they're researching online play because that's the "potential" way to to re-create the arcade scene. It's not confirmed at all. To have reassurance of something, you must be sure about it in the first place. You can't be sure about something that isn't confirmed.

Actually, online fighting games are huge in Japan. Unfortunatly, that's not the case in the States. Japanese are anal about their electronics. Ever heard of Matching Services? Look at the Japanese version of almost any fighting game for Dreamcast and it'll have it. Once again, most of you are jumping to conclusions. The game is still a ways off. Before you make up your mind about it, see what happens. It just might be what everyone's been waiting for.

Most likely BB only for Xbox and who knows what for PS2. Since some games are BB only on PS2 I would think that aswell. I havent played SF onlive so I cant say what its like if MK is online.

I think this is basically another way to say that they're going to sacrifice the real draws for mortal kombat to toy with a new feature. I.E. expect lame fatalities, no stage fatalities, basic-looking stages, all the stuff that, in the end, made MKDA what it is: a decent, but overall unfinished product and, compared to other fightings games nowadays, completely mediocre. I foresee Boon and Co. focusing so much on online play that they're just gonna forget about anything else. Though I like to have faith, my opinion on the next MK is that it will be an unfinished, mediocre product, and a long, long time from now, when that game comes out, and somebody plays it and gives me their review, then maybe i'll consider giving it a rent. I like that a few people have high expectations, but lets face it: Mortal Kombat has forever been a series of empty promises and complete laziness. I expect no different with the next MK.

you need to lighten up...why are you here???
you have no idea what happens in the development process.

Ed Boon is a genius and you should be thankfull that he is still making mortal kombat.

Why am I here? Because I've been a member of this forum for years, and probably much longer than you at that. It seems also that I've been playing Mortal Kombat much longer than you have, simply because I'm no stranger to the disappointment associated with the Mortal Kombat series. I have learned from the past games not to expect much of its future anymore. Good enough for you?

I have no idea what happens in the development process? And you're implying that you do? Get real. There are games out there that spend less time in development than MK ever did, and they are some of the best games around.

Ed Boon is a genius? Far from it. Mortal Kombat may be a great game and all, but look at it compared to other fighting games like Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur II...those games have serious depth. Sure, they may turn into button mashing matches if you don't know how to play, but those games take alot of time to learn and become skilled...and when you're skilled at games like that, its a damn good skill. If Boon were truly were in the Godly and heavenly regard that you hold him in, than Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance wouldn't be the boring, mediocre product that it is. As it stands, MK is the most mediocre of the next generation fighting games, and all the promises that they made, all the things they said they were definitely putting in...well, where are they? And why is the game we should have gotten being released for the Game Boy Advance right now? If I really cared to own a GBA, i'd take MK:TE over MKDA anyday, only because of its features. But realistically, MKDA should've spent at least another 5-6 months in development...i'm not blinded by a fanboy MK following...I am a long-time, die-hard MK fan that realized over the past few years just how much they fail with every game that comes out.

The problem with MK is that they make too many promises that they don't deliver on. As such, I am now completely secure in my opinion that the next MK will be decent, but will again fall short of everything that they say it will be. And you know what? I love MK. So I PRAY that I'm wrong. Stop idolizing Boon and being so fanboyish about MK...face up to the reality that MK is NOT the best game out there.

here's a clue....I know Ed Boon and I work for Midway..

So yes, I really do know what happened in the dev. process. In fact, I was part of it.

Lots of things happen when making a video game...schedules time and budget. Dealing with the console makers and dealing with admissions etc.

The game needs to be stable with no fatal crashes and a rock solid frame rate. Performance is first. eVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY.

    so

    plbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!!!

I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Whoa. Sorry, I didn't know you knew Ed Boon man. That changes my response completely. See the thing is that I personally know and am advising Hideo Kojima on Metal Gear Solid 3, and we both feel that MKDA was so lackluster. That reminds me, I gotta catch a flight back to Japan because me and Hideo are going to have a meeting with Shigeru Miyamoto about a possible follow-up to Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube. Oh, and i'm the reincarnation of Jesus Christ too...

You know Boon...God, what a f'n moron. Grow up a bit, and in about 10 years, learn how to participate in an argument like an adult, instead of pretending you know the developers. The fact that you are so childish about your responses makes it blatantly obvious to me that your age in your profile is about 20 years innacurate...so tell me another one, i'm getting a good laugh out of this. And your Phillipines nationality doesn't help convince anyone...Midway is an American company, and furthermore the MK development team was entirely chicago based...I don't think they made an exception to have one employee based in the phillipines about 5000 miles away.

I think one thing that all of you need to think about is the amount of time Midway was able to spend on making MKDA while Namco had more time to make Soul Calibur 2. And if you think about it even more, the fighting engine in MKDA was built from scratch while the fighting engine in Soul Calibur 2 is a lot like the fighting engine in Soul Calibur 1 but with more functions so Namco had the time to add a bunch of other stuff to Soul Calibur 2.

As for MKDA itself, I thought it was far from mediocre and I really liked the game. For a game that took about 1 and a half years to make, I was impressed with the game very much.
