Tekken is splitting of a game for Nina Williams, do you think that would be a good idea for Mortal Kombat.

It would be very cool if they did that.
BTW: Slow down, stop posting so many threads!

It doesn't sound a good idea me.

Why not. As long as they are better than Mythologies and Special Forces. BTW blackcyborg, I love your avatar. Dr. Zoidberg is hilarious.

I personally like the sound of this.
I liked MKM.
Didn't get to play MK:SF though so can't comment on that.
I would like to see a story of how scorpion became the scorpion we know today.
They could do the game with any of the characters.
The story would be kick arse for many of them

I really liked the whole storyline of Mythologies. It was great, just poorly executed. Scorpion is a good idea for the main character. I was confused why they did special forces with Jax, i mean....it's Jax. even Sonya woulda been like "meh" (no offense to all u sonya and jax fans out there)
I'd like to see one with Kenshi but he's too new and no one really knows him besides the hardcore MK fans. Sub Zero and Scorpion are very well known in pop culture. Kano'd be great too.

imo MKM was a great game. great characters, great story, awesome music, excellent gameplay. one of the best platformers i've ever played. i've lost count on how many times i've played this game. Tobias did an awesome job on this one. too bad he's not with Midway anymore. i'd've liked to see him do similar games for other characters as well, Raiden, Scorpion come to mind.

They already told that story, dude, in MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero.
Quan-Chi needed the Map of Elements so that his chosen warrior could find the Temple of Elements and retrieve the elemental keys that would unlock Shinnok's Sacred Amulet. So he went to the Lin Kuei and asked the Grandmaster if Sub-Zero could get it for him. The Grandmaster said yes, but only for a price: if Sub-Zero succeeded in retrieving the map, Quan-Chi would use his power to demolish the Lin Kuei's rivals: the Shirai Ryu.
However, just in case Sub-Zero failed, Quan-Chi also went to the Shirai Ryu and asked if Scorpion could retrieve the map for him. They agreed, and Scorpion was sent to the Shaolin Temples in China where the Map of Elements was held. Sub-Zero arrived there at the same time Scorpion did and they raced for the map.
They both evaded dangerous traps and shaolin monks and eventually found their way into the chamber where the map was held. They fought for the map, and eventually Sub-Zero beat Scorpion into submission. Scorpion begged for his life, but Sub-Zero granted him no mercy and ripped his head off.
Sub-Zero then presented the map to the Lin Kuei Grandmaster and Quan-Chi, and Quan-Chi held up his end of the bargain and had every single Shirai Ryu member and their families murdered, not a single remnant of them left (that was how Scorpion's family died).
Now, how Quan-Chi managed to frame Sub-Zero for the family's murder or how Scorpion believed in the first place Sub-Zero did it is beyond me.

I myself would've liked to see more individual character games. I definitely would've liked those promised games (but no more) about Liu Kang and Baraka. Give some more insight into the hero of MK and maybe shed a little light on Baraka. I wonder what their games would've been like....
Probably involves Shang Tsung killing Liu Kang's brother....or something. In the game canon, Liu Kang already hates Shang Tsung but it is never specified why.
Now Baraka's is something I would like to see. Wonder what his would've been about.
Special Forces was a poor disappointment, especially considering what it was supposed to be. I say Tobias should've stayed at least a little longer until that game was finished then they could leave.

Ok 1.Nice summary, 2. I don't think itmatters how he managed to frame im. Subbie did kill Scorpion after all (then again Scorpion was a warrior and should not have expected mercy) and his clan and family were killed indirectly by the Lin Quei. then again it doesnt matter now because Scorpy was Quan Chi dead (assuming he isnt already)

Yes, MK Special Forces probably would have actually been a really cool game if John Tobias and other members of Midway had stuck with it until it was completed. Since they left in the middle of production, the game was simplified, only Jax was selectable instead of both him and Sonya with two seperate, but connecting adventures, there was barely any story at all- a generic one at that, and it released at a cheap price. It ended up being the worst MK game ever.
MK Mythologies on the other hand was, in my opinion, a good game. But I can understand why some people didn't like it, especially people unfamiliar with MK. It did teach us a lot about the original Sub-Zero's background, who was a character of mystery until this game. It also revealed many other story elements, like Scorpion's background, other gods, the shaolin temple, Shinnok and Quan Chi's background, ect. And the instruction booklet alone revealed a lot, like how Sindel's soul was tanted with evil through dealings with Shang Tsung, and how the sorcerer obtained the whereabouts of the Map of Elements through the knowledge of the original Kung Lao, the origin of Scorpion and Sub-Zero's clan... lots of stuff.
Anyway, I've always liked the idea of these kinds of games. They give the feeling of playing the characters a whole new experience, and we learn a lot about the background of that particular focus. A Sub-Zero game was appropriate at the time it came out due to it's strong connection with the MK4 storyline. MK Special Forces WOULD have revealed a lot concerning the special forces, Black Dragon, a bit more on the Lin Kuei, and probably a little involvment with Raiden and Shang Tsung. We'd have learn more, not only about Jax, Sonya, and Kano, but also Kabal, Jarek, and maybe even others.
For the next game of this type, John Tobias had planned on doing one focusing on Liu Kang's backstory, and said he had an interesting background that he wanted to explore. Since Liu Kang is the main hero and central character (in addition to being my favorate
If they had made a Liu Kang game, I'm sure we'd have learned more about his brother, Chow Kang, and why Liu's MK1 instructional booklet labels Chow's whereabouts as "Unknown." We'd probably learn more about Kung Lao, the shaolin temples, Order of Light, and White Lotus Society, and their involvement in Mortal Kombat. No doubt Raiden would have made an appearace, and Shang Tsung. Probably would have been some surprise guests too. We'd also learn why Liu Kang received personal invitation to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament, and why he so nobly wanted to do so. In MK4, Kai's profile said he met Liu Kang in America, so perhaps we'd have learn how Liu met Kai. And learn more as to why Kung Lao chose not to fight in the tournament, and left the Order of Light to join the White Lotus Society. I'm sure he was orignally chosen by the shaolin monks to represent them in Mortal Kombat, but he was more devoted to living a life of peace until his shaolin brothers were killed in MKII. I'd also like to know why Liu Kang left the Order of Light, but came back to be their chosen fighter. I think Liu Kang probably had a very cool background and story that we will now never know about.
John Tobias had also expressed interest about doing a Raiden game, and that would have been awesome too. Learning more about the Elder Gods, and early Mortal Kombats perhaps.
Ah, but do I ever want to see another individual character game? I have to say no, because the storyline probably wouldn't be the same if Tobias isn't working on it, and I really don't want them to mess up Liu Kang's character more than I feel they already have. I have to admit though, it would be nice to have MK's story potential explored in other styles of gameplay other than fighting alone. Maybe they could do it right, who knows... Maybe if it were a storyline related to the present day games Deadly Alliance and Deception, that would be cool I guess.

They tried this already an it bombed. So i doubt they will try it again. They need to keep going like this.If anything try to get it back to tournament style if anything.Long Live Johnny Cage.
