Is it just me, or dose anyone else think that the Hari Karis are stupid?

It would be cool if both were in the game and they interacted. Like lets say if a person is beat they can do hari-kari or the winner can do a fatality or a mercy. Mercys are usually very quick (I think it was like L+R in the old ones) so people will be more incline to do a mercy. The next time the person is beat though they shouldn't have the option to do suicide AND the other play should have more brutal fatalities this time (like anamalities).
So basicly
1st defeat can end in : Suicide, fatality or mercy
2nd defeat can end in : fatalitiy, extra brutal fatality unlocked with the mercy but no suicide
Or they could do it the opposite way
1st defeat can end in : Fataliity or mercy (to unlock the extra fatalities)
2nd defeat can end in : Fatalitiy, extra brutal fatality or suicide (to avoid the extra brutal fatality)

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Hara-Kiri is based on the suicide of the samurai. It was a very honorable sacrifice if the samurai had comitted a crime or disobeyed his lord. It is also better to die by your own hands, then to either beg for mercy like a pathetic little wimp, or be destroyed in a brutal manner.

sounds like a dumb idea to me

I totally agree!
Another issue I have is, if a fighter as enough energy to kill him/herself, why would he use that energy to try and recover? This whole Hari Kari thing just does'nt make since to me.
I would rather see a Mercy (at least be an option). I thought that mercy's were neat (in MKTrilogy)

I too agree with this method, NinjaHellSpawn.
I also think that it would be better if the screen went black (censoring the act). Then, the light comes back on, and you're on the ground...your opponent's thinking *what the...* This would also add to the meaning deception.

| AussieNinja Wrote: Hari Kari's are a nice new touch to the game. But i think the challenge of being able to perform them should be set. Maybe something like MK2 to perform a Friendship you weren't allowed to block at all in that round. Something like that to be able to perform the Hari Kari |
I agree that a special condition should be set. Not being able to block is a bit extreme though. The way MK is now, not blocking is basically suicide on its own! There should be another way.

I am always for anything that enhances or expands the Mortal Kombat universe. So I think the "Hari Kari" moes are a good idea. An having them in conjunction with the "Mercy" move from MK3 would be even better.
However, in order to avoid any confusion and unlike in past MKs....a warrior who has won the match and has an opportunity to perform a Fatality/Finishing Move but accidentally kicks or punches or throws the defeated warrior shouldn't be denied of having more time to do a Fatality--it's like as soon as you punch the defeated warrior, he falls down, then the match is over--it's not right.

I agree with SleepWalker.
What is there to complain about really? I mean if you've already lost the match, then how can having the ability to do a Hari Kari ruin the match? If anything we should welcome the new level of gore. Besides, I can't wait to take the satisfaction of murder away from my opponent.

I think the concept behind Hari Karis is cool. The fact that you can race to kill yourself before your opponent does is a cool idea.

I agree with Shang on this one. I am not going to pass judgement on the moves just yet because we haven't seen them. Its interesting but like others on this forum right now, I am more interested in the gameplay, the stages, characters, and the storyline at this point.
