If it was really Mileena, they would've put more effort into her.

Kitana has the mask because it's "iconic" and she stole the Ground Roll because:
a) the MK team couldn't care less about her
b) they're completely bankrupt of ideas
c) it's some misguided & half-assed attempt to please both Kitana and Mileena fans
d) all of the above

No. I really doubt it and it would be silly.......but then again, I can't deny I've had this idea/thought/theory in the past (in other games), and wondered whether it would be cool or not to shock fans by suddenly revealing a "what if-ending" that tells us that Kitana was in fact Mileena in disguise.

But not for this game please. I don't want Mileena screwed. And that would totally screw Kitana fans as well. It would be awful for both parts, but the shock value of the ending would be huge and maybe even annoying.

Besides, it is clearly Kitana in everything.

As for the mask, its part of her I guess, and I really like that she has it on despite people saying she doesn't need it. But the real question is why does she look so fat in the face. I wonder if it's the hair cut what makes her look like that. I would had seriously gone with a MK2 face look (and hair).

Watch, just like I'm betting Captain Marvel's alt color will be black, I'm betting Kitana's alt will be fuchsia.

Funny, I could say exactly the same thing about certain individuals, but unlike them (with the remarkable exceptions of sweet oracle, sweet WarriorPrincess, etc. who rock!), I actually appreciate and admit the good things in characters I'm not a fan of.

Kitana rocks, and whatever you might think, I *do* like her and I don't have to pretend "I never play as her" in the game (steel fans remain my fave thing about her overall character and her involvement with some characters in the story). But she was screwed in this game. Badly. That's not a cheap shot, that's just a statement of the truth.

I think that would be a really good plot point if that is indeed her.

Oh yeah. If they were planning on having Kitana really be Mileena. she would've gotten a fantastically designed brand new outfit, incredible and inventive special moves, some insane fatality (though still T rated, natch), and would probably play an integral and bad ass part in the story.

Well actually, come to think about it...that might've been too obvious.

I thought about this right after I heard about her having Mileena's roll move. The roll move AND the mask got me thinking. Not to mention that Kitana looked a bit more evil-looking in the first screenshots we saw of her.

It's entirely possible. Especially since Mileena wants to assume Kitana's identity and usurp her throne.

But now I have my doubts after seeing her talking with Liu Kang at Wu Shi Academy (probably going for the whole 'girlfriend' angle again) and hearing her voice. I don't see Mileena coming off as that smooth or concerned.

That's not really true, considering Mileena has been screwed badly in that department. Only 3 special moves so far, ever since MK2.

i thought about that when i first saw that kitana DID ACTUALLY have mileena's roll but i've come to the conclusion that it's not mileena. if only because of how much of her outfit covers her body. since they've been having different looks mileena has always been pretty naked while kitana has been pretty modest.

as far as the mask. well it's apart of her character, and while long time kitana fans (like myself) would love to see her move away from that the MK team probably won't anytime soon.

People are readin faaaar too much into the Rolling Thunder move IMO. And overreacting too much also IMO.

Its a fucking roll. Anyone can do a roll, I can do forward rolls (all be it not as fast lol), does that mean Im Mileena? I dont think so. I do think its uneccesary that she got it, but it'll probably be as useless to Kitana as it was to Mileena anyway. Catwoman got a backflip move which we've seen Kitana with in previous games, yet nobody screamed blue murder over it, why- because backflips arent that 'special' more than one person can do them (again me included).

If she had been given lightning bolts, green skulls, freeze moves (or even the teleport Kick of Mileena), then I could understand this 'OMG WTF' attitude. But seriously, its not even a super power.

XiahouDun, whose intellect I've always highly respected, is surprising me with how hard a time he seems to be having accepting this game's "treatment" of Kitana.

Personally, I can't wait to play as her. They brought back the jumpkick-air fan combo from MK2! How can you be mad at that?
