Ok, something I want to get off my chest regarding this whole Noob-Saibot vs. Noob matter.

I was in a situation a long time ago similar to this one with Ed Boon and his EX-co creator John Tobias.

I did something with a friend once, we don't speak anymore but the reasons for that isn't the point.The point is this, he tried taking credit for it while I did half the work so did he.50/50.

Now, after that I was in charge along of the project meaning his work involved was completely and utterly MY CHOICE.

I decided to continue the project alone with myself taking credit, afterall he might have started it with me but certainly DID NOT help me finish it.He broke up the friendship over something dumb, so therefore we are no longer friends and he didn't help me finish the project like we initially agreed.

That's what I remember when ever I read this stuff concerning Noob-Saibot and Noob.

Honestly, I know there's a lot of fans on here that want "Noob-Saibot" however I would totally understand if Ed Boon decides to call him JUST Noob.

I mean come on, the character was Noob-Saibot was made YEARS ago when John Tobias WAS, key word there being WAS apart of Midway.

Now Ed alone is the big cheese in charge and he should be given the the whole idea for MK years ago was his alone.Something most people don't know.But Ed Boon was the man who had the idea for it back in college, he just aquired a partner named John Tobias as his co-creator for the game.

Aside from that fact, Tobias LEFT meaning Ed has every right to cut off Saibot at the end of Noob's name.

I know there are some here that disagree but seriously, someone did the same thing to me left me with the project to do myself you bet your butt I'm cutting off your name for the series, game or project.

I honestly support Ed 100% and understand this move on Noob-Saibot turning into Noob alone.

Afterall, Boon is still making MK games NOT Tobias.Nor is he apart of Midway anymore giving Boon every right.

Besides, I don't see Tobias going after Midway for this....it's to be expected.He was the one that left, he wasn't fired.

Here's to Noob.

For the record, storyline can establish this change just like Motaro's curse concerning his legs turning his people into minotuers.

My thoughts on this since I keep reading this every where and I was in a situation similar to this gig.

I am agree with you too. at least John Tobias won ́t mentioned to future mortal kombat games. Ed Boon will be the only creator of the New Mortal Kombat

I disagree. This is the name of a character, yes, it was made from reverseing the two creator's names, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a character's name. They should put the Saibot portion back in.

I agree with Razor. It'll sound weird when you pick him and the guy says "Nooooob". It'd sound better if it were "Nooooob Saibot". lol

It doesn't matter what Boon does from now on. As long as the series is called Mortal Kombat, John Tobias will ALWAYS be co-creator. The only way you can drop Tobias' name is if you rename the series something else, and even then, unless EVERY single character was new, it would be based off of characters created by Boon/Tobias.

It is stupid. You are putting too much stock in a name.
I still feel that characters tobias designed or helped create are still my favorite MK character designs. You can't just say get rid of whatever part your partner played else things wouldn't be the same.

You just add onto it and move on. Don't go back trying to erase the past and everything he did, else you might have just started your project from the beginning by you darn self.

It's possible that they simply reused the MK:D sound files for the MK: Armageddon site, and that maybe, just maybe, Noob Saibot will be his name in MK:A itself. If you listen to Smoke's name, you can hear the end of "Noob" on it still, so that's rather sloppy. The name "Saibot" was only spoken in MK:D during Noob-Smoke's ending, so perhaps they just didn't want to redo the sound file for it and not release the new sound file yet, for whatever reason.

Then again, maybe they just reused the sound files in the game too.

So what if he left? They made a popular character, and gave him his name.

In the comics area this break ups are always happening.

Imagine if they decided to call Spiderman just Spider.

Or if Peter Pan was created by two people and one of them left and he was called just Peter? That ́s nonsense.

They should put Saibot to respect the fans! He is not just Noob, this IS ridiculous and they should change it! Fuck off if Tobias is not there anymore, Saibot is a character name wth it ́s own life, not related to Tobias.

Imagine if they started calling Quan Chi just Quan or Shang Tsung just Shang or even worse Liu Kang just Liu! That would SUCK big time!

I agree with Crow.

Look at Noob-Smoke's Deception bio and ending. He's frequently referred to as Noob SAIBOT. Also look at Ashrah's bio and ending. Noob SAIBOT. They're not dropping the name Saibot. They probably just didn't bother recording the name for when you selected him.
Laziness? Maybe. But a conspiricy to make us forget John Tobias co-created Mortal Kombat? No.

OR, maybe they just didn't think it was that important. No one seems to care that Sonya Blade is only announced "Sonya" when you select her.

Now would I rather they announced his full name? Sure...because announcing him as just "Noob" does sound kind of goofy. But it's not that big a deal and it's not worth looking into too deeply.

I agree with Razor,but this thread is useness because during a interview Boon says clearly that Noob is just a shorter name because he appears as tag team with Smoke.
This don't matter to me,but there's no cospiracy to make forget us about Tobias or some copyrights problems.
In Shaolin Monks he's called Noob Saibot.
BTW,why Tobias left Midway?

Actually, I take this back. He's been Noob Saibot throughout the whole series, why change now? I mean sure, If you want to display his name as just Noob, fine. If you want to display his name in endings like that, fine. At the very least, have the announcer say Noob Saibot.

Sonya is flawless without her last name. But "NOOB" Just sounds dumb. Now it doesn't bother me as much as other people but still. It sounds lame. Its like When you select Johnny Cage. It's always been Johnny Cage. Never in any of the games has it ever said "Johnny" on the select screen by itself.

Well, crow brings up an interesting point.If this is the situation then perhaps they just don't want to use :"saibot" in the game but in his ending they'll use Noob-Saibot whole.

For the other dude, I believe that comparison with Spiderman to Noob-Saibot is not the same at all.

Reason why I feel that way is because of this, Spiderman first off was created by one man, not two but say it was two I doubt the other co-creator would be named Nam.Man spelled backwards which in this case also has something to do with it.In Tobias-Saibot.

You see one thing I forgot to mention in my intial post was this, not only did Tobias choose to leave midway but you realize that once you do that, Midway or Boon can do what ever they want without Tobias's consent.Your love for the character is making you forget the way things work like this in the world of business.

Tobias left guys lol, his choice not midways Boon can do what ever he wishes.

Unless they DON'T give him credit for the games he was involved in or something like that, midway can do what ever they wish.

BTW, even though it was the name of a character way back Saibot as we all know is Tobias spelled backwards as I mentioned earlier so I believe this has something to do with it also.

Tobias is no longer with midway anymore, so that's my argument right there.Therefore Boon can do what ever he wishes ultimately.

I really don't care either way since I'm not the worlds #1 Noob-Saibot fan but I'm just saying I can see where Boon's coming from IF he decides NOT to use Saibot at all.

To put all this to rest, he could just kill off the character all together which might happen anyway

Noob-Smoke was just shortened to sound better.In his ending they say Noob-Saibot.

For what it's worth, I don't think Noob will survive after MK:A.We'll see.
