So im playing DA, and like most of you i need to push start and scroll through the combo brackets to remember how to do some of them; then i started to think (which doesnt happen often).

What if you could somehow (through an options screen) choose your character, and then using one of those brackets (boxes that hold button sequences when you push start) type in your own custom button combo; one that isn't already in the "Moves List".

So, if you are playing Deception one day and your character is Scorpion for example, you suddenly pull off a cool interlinked combo you made up. Through an option screen you could includ that in the move list, so you wont forget it.

NOW HERES the Kicker: I HATE looking up fatalities on the interent, and i also lose the print outs that i make. So i would use this custom combo thing and type in the fatality sequence, so all i need to do is push start, scroll through the "moves list" until i come to my custom combo and remind myself how to do the fatality.

Kool?

that isn't a bad idea at all. Although I doubt they will do it, I still like it. Don't you find it funny that when people like you and i actually think out decent ideas such as this one about gameplay and combos that nobody responds to it. It seems to me that people are more concerned with whether or not their "favorite" characters make it or not... Again, this is a good post and nobody responds to it. Honestly I could care less about who makes it into the game because everyone deserves a shot (except Jax b/c he had his chance with the new engine and sucked it up lol). I think ideas like this about gameplay should receive the same attention as character speculation topics, but thats just my opinion...

There are three rules for doing scientific research. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.

I couldn't agree more Rubin (except on the Jax part heh grin).

Now as to Brendan's idea. I actually like it. A few years back I made the outlines for a fighting game of my own and it included a very similar idea.

haha. Ya I just figured I'd throw that in there for fun. but this seriously is a good idea... something else about combos that I wish was touched on is the idea back in Mk4... you could do like hp, hp, hk, and then incorporate a special move into the combo... like in DA you should be able to do something like this: Kung Lao's, 1,1,2 then hat throw as they are stunned back.... its ideas like this that are important, not so much a character.... what good is a sequel if we concentrate on the lineup rather than the engine....

nice idea about adding your own combos to the move list!

About the fatalities, wouldn't it be easier if it its unlocked the first time you do the fatality. That way noone gets the fatality moves straight up, but once you know it theres no reason for it not to be shown in the move list. Does that make sense??

yeah, that would make it easier, if once you performed the fatalities they were part of the "moves list" under "fatalities" that would be cool too. I just got sick of looking them up on the internet or having to flip pages when i was done finish an opponent.

Well since it took an eternity to load I can finally reply! smile Anyways great ideas about the combos, that would actually make the game better. The fatality part I can agree on since I have MK fatality sheets posted near my tv. grin

Yeah, I think most of us have something like that. Personally I have what I like to call the "Kombat Kodex", which is a 3-ring binder filled with print-outs of moves for every character in every MK game. I even included the select screen pics for easy browsing.

Total customization of combos like that would be a nightmare to test and could lead to incredible cheapness.

As for the fatality thing in the online moves list (start menu), I like this idea...BUT, not until you actually do the fatality once.

Damn cheaters lol
