... Kai!
I don't see why he wouldn't be a super unlockable, whether or not still ending up on the char select screen. He is a very intresting character, with AMAZING potential...

I agree with you on the potential part, but I don't think we have a chance of seeing him until MK7. What I DO suggest though is since I heard MK team members visit this, is people start getting petitions going since MK:D is almost out for release and they are already working on MK7, Kai and others might have a big chance.

raiden isn't a Super Unlockeable, he's on the select screen...
They had the idea of Kai for DA... so if they plan on giving him a good part in MK7... then he has chances to be SU

I thought Raiden is part of the 24 characters on the main screen. What do you mean "its over the 23/24"? I have a slight feeling that Goro might be a super unlockable. There HAS to be a Shokan if there is a Shokan stage. You get what I mean? They have that palace with Shokan warrior statues on the sides, so I think Goro or Sheeva might be a super-unlockable.

Raiden isnt a super unlockable. He can be seen on the character select screen. You have to find a key in konquest mode to open his koffin and unlock him.

I'm laughing at you, not with you.

They had that in DA too.

I thought Kai and Fujin sucked... No offense. Well, not even so much fujin, I think fujin is a cool guy, but since Mythologies, I always liked beating up on HIM.
Fujin had great potential. I admit, his crossbow weapon really sucked, but he should have replaced Raiden starting MK:DA.
At the end of MK4 we see Raiden becoming an Elder God and Fujin taking his place as Protector of Earthrealm. Why couldn't they have left it that way? I can understand that the classic characters have a 'can't-go-wrong-with-this-character' feeling, but sometimes... for the sake of the story, leave out some of the old characters and introduce new characters (and let them stay as well).
If you keep making games with the same characters over and over again, things get boring too soon. Take Sub-Zero, for example. I know that many love that character. It has been my favorite character as well... until Frost appeared. I have seen many say that Frost was a cheap copy of Sub-Zero and that they should have left her out. What if they simply left out Sub-Zero and kept Frost? He could have retired as the Grand Master of the Lin Kuei and left Frost be the new Lin Kuei champion. It's funny, really. Everybody talked about Liu Kang in every Mortal Kombat, when it's in fact Sub-Zero that has been in every Mortal Kombat to date.
That's why I was glad they killed off Liu Kang (and dismayed to hear he was back in MKD). While I don't like nor dislike Kai, he would indeed be a worthy successor to Liu Kang.
What's that saying again? Out with the old, in with the new?

Yeah, I never really got too interested by Kai, but I admit, every character should have at least one 2nd chance to prove his worth. (Especially Meat and Chameleon. Those guys barely even got a 1st.)
Now strictly speaking, yes, there are two Sub-Zeros, with two different stories, but I think for gaming purposes, Sub-Zero can be considered 1 character. Both share the same moves, and the same general appearance, as well as the same taste in colors, so for the purposes of gameplay, yes, Sub-Zero has been in every last game.
Now story wise is different. Story wise, Scorpion and Raiden were the only characters to participate in every game. (Since MKT overides MK3 in terms of story) Cage would also have qualified, had he not been cut in the upcoming deception.
But yeah, I agree. It seems like every game follows the formula of having more characters the farther back the games go. I mean DA had 8 MK1 characters in with the original lineup -Liu Kang, + Reptile and Shang Tsung (I included Sub-Zero w/ them because for gameplay purposes he's the same) 3 MK2 characters (4 if you count Blaze), 1 MK3 character in Cyrax, and 1 MK4 character in Quan Chi. The other 10 characters were brand new ones. Now, of those 10 characters, they're using 3 in the new game.
In MK4, they didn't use any of the new characters introduced in MK3. It wasn't until gold that we got Cyrax and Sektor as an addendum.
So what I'm saying is, the MK games seem notorious for creating a mess of new characters each time around, and them when the next game starts, not doing crap with them. The rosters are usually 45% MK1 & MK2 characters, 45% New characters, & 10% MK3 & MK4 characters.
It seems that this trend may be changing however, as Deception is the 1st game since MK3 to actually feature an MK3 character that's not Cyrax or Sektor. Which is more then I can say for MK4 characters. (*Tanya stands by herself crying*)
Though overall, Deception seems to have a much more well rounded roster.
Hopefully midway will continue this trend in the future, and actually start using the new characters they create a little more fully. Limit the MK1s to about 3-4 per game like this one, and things should get along fine.

This is kind of a crappy reason, but I can't imagine Kai being a super unlockable because Ashrah has his falling fireball. Now, while I agree that every character deserves a second chance, I really don't think Kai has much of a shot this time around. I couldn't care less if he never came back and I think there are better characters with basically the same story, except better (Kung Lao!), but I got Tanya back, so why shouldn't you get Kai and Fujin, hell even Rain and Sareena if you want. Every character that was done wrong the first time around (Kai, Tanya...) should really get a chance again, despite the fact that Boon seems to get hard over Scorpion and Bo. It isn't really fair to ignore the other designs. And while I agree it isn't necasarrily great that the majority of the casts are always from MK I and II, there's a reason for that: the new characters from that point on were, more often than not, crap.

I find it funny how many of you consider Sub-Zero 2 different characters. While I agree they are both a different person, they're basically the same character. They both wear the same uniform, have the same attacks... heck, they even have the same name. So yeah, I would say Sub-Zero has been in every game... not just starting MK2.
