Let's face it. Most of us, if not all are eager to play Konquest mode and see what it's all about. So if it's done right it may pave the road for a stand alone MK rpg. However, if done wrong it can be what kills Deception.
The way Boon described Konquest he made it seem as a stand alone rpg which will be one of the coolest features. Deception has only three months to get itself ready. And if Konquest is all that's hyped up to be, then there's hardly any time to incorparate everything into Deception. Most of the components may be slopply done. And rememmber, this is the mode where almost everything will be unlocked. If it's done incorrectly people are going to get sick of it and stop playing it, leaving the game with a bad taste in their mouth. Which intern will bite Midway in the ass and can very well destroy the MK franchise, especially with Midway's financial trouble. So alot of pressure is riding on this one mode, not to mention the other four, and their online functionality.

I'll be disappointed if any of the extras turn out to be crap, as they've more more time on them than anything else by all the hype Boon + Co themselves have put on it.

Personally I'm only really looking forward to Konquest mode, and with it bein as important as it is to the game, I think they'll have done a good job with it.

The school yard cut-scenes were very impressive, with the kids acting out the fight between the legendary Kung Lao and Goro, here's hoping there'll be that can of standard for the main game's ending's as well.

I think you mean "in turn", not "intern". I had to reread that sentence about three times to decipher it. o.o

Ya, I hope the endings are real FMV's, not those comic type things. Those just didn't cut it for me, and I was a bit dissapointed. The endings should also be pretty long, at least 5 minutes each. I know its a lot of memory, but come on- a fighting game doesn't take up too much space, and a couple hours of movies couldnt hurt.
lol.. from what I saw as well as what you all saw at E3 2004, we can either say there's no way in hell they incorporated that much content into the game from then to now - or we can say that they didn't reveal much keeping it all a big secret.

This new Konquest could be nothing more than walking around a bland looking town, picking up bland items, in bland rooms.

5 mins each? that would rock...if you want a fighting game with only two characters...

That's my point right there. You're so hyped up to play Konquest when it comes out, but what if it doen't turn out as well as you'd hoped. I doubt anyone would wnat to finish a half-assed rpg mode. And in so doing, you might give up on unlocking the secrets, leaving the game with nothing but bad memmries.

I think no matter what Konquest is going to be awesome. Im not looking for an awesome Rpg with everything i wanted because deceptions main focus isnt just an rpg game, Mk is a fighting game. I still think it will be awesome, the best rpg game id play because it has Mk in it, but for other ppl play a diff rpg maybe. Even though i think it will be aweomse 10/10

I think you're underestimating the ability to do such a thing. If you've ever played Tekken 4 you'd know that all of the character's endings in that game were at least three minutes each and they had quite a few characters. I think five minute FMV's may be alittle much but I think asking for FMV sequences that last at least two minutes each isn't too much to ask. Plus considering how much is going into the game already I'm half expecting it to be on two discs when it comes out and if the fighting mode is on one disc you'll have enough room on that disc to do FMV endings.

Konquest mode could be a very good addition in Deception, either way. If the mode isn't exactly a top-tier RPG, I won't be disappointed. Consider what you gain from playing Konquest! A character that you mold into your own. You could use the styles you liked from every fighter and combine them into one powerful arsenal. It's worthy, so long as it has just enough polish to stand in the game, alone or not.

~

As for the endings discussion going on, I have to agree that the storyboards are starting to grow stale but it's better than nothing. Think back to the NES/SMS days when you had a solid color with horrible text and bad grammar, we've got more than that now.

I wouldn't mind video endings, be they CGI or footage compiled using the game's engine (Metal Gear Solid)...

With that, I'd like to point out that there is a difference between FMV and CGI endings:

Full Motion Video (FMV):
A full motion video is comprised of real footage. The endings would resemble something close to Conquest. Examples can be found on several earlier consoles, namely the Sega CD.

Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI):
CGI is fairly self-explanitory.. Some companies can produce fantastic movie-quality footage while others lack in this area. Squaresoft. Namco. Both companies excel in this area, but I'm sure that all of you have played a Final Fantasy or Tekken game.

Anyway, I'll stop with this before it gets any longer...

So, you suggest they take Konquest out to make more money and save the franchise? confused

No way, I don't think that the Konquest mode could be THAT bad to deliver a finishing blow to the MK Franchise.

If you think about it..MKD just took the backbone from MKDA and hyped up the graphics a notch.. Which could mean that they didnt spend that much time on the modeling of the characters. MKDA prolly took so much dam time and no time to add in the other features b/c of modeling each character and their movements.. With that out of the way they have alot of time to work on gameplay and other minigames in the game.. So wut im trying to say basicaly they should of had enough time to work on konquest and other features b/c about 20% of the game was already laid out for them since they used the DA backbone.. I know this b/c im learning 3d animation myself..once u got the models set along with their movements, amping up the graphics alil bit isnt a hard job..

Very true except there's one little flaw in that post. Who said they were not finished with mostly everything and have only 3 months to finish everything quickly? No one that I know of.

I'm guessing from the E3 demo that MKD is probably very close to being done. I bet they are finishing it up and just adding the finishing touches. I'm sure they made sure they would have enough time to complete everything.

Ever since MK1 was half complete(the 2nd fatalities were removed due to time), every MK since then was complete and not on a time schedule that was not possible. Some companies like to rush their people, this is not the case with the MK Team.

I think everything will be put together nicely. Konquest and the gameplay itself will be it's highest points. If anything is lacking it will be chess or puzzle kombat mode.

I have tekken 4...but you're forgetting that those endings aren't FMV, they're done with the same moels that we play, not CGI

yes, but I've hope and confidence that they'll do a great job. From what've seen in videos, I can tell that konquest isn't half-assed
