Of course he should come back. They have just let him take Liu Kangs place and now it seems like they want to toss him aside. Doesn't seem right to me.

As for his story, he should now be readying himself for the battle against the DK, but he is having trouble preparing and he fears that all is lost. Maybe we could see Kung Lao change a bit. I'm not sure how though.

Although he's never been a favorite of mine, I wouldn't mind seeing him come back as I always feel that Mortal Kombat should retain some of its core of characters from the original Mortal Kombat (Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, etc.) And when these characters return in a new and unfamiliar place, it gives the game that awesome mix of classic feel and renewed excitement at the same time.

I think Kung Lao should change for the worse. Perhaps he's secretly depressed about the death of Liu Kang and about his purpose in Mortal Kombat. Perhaps he feels all of his fighting is becoming useless and becomes a drunken nomad (thanks to his relation with Bo' Rai Cho!) and wallows in self pity. But he feels as though he can't properly mourn the loss of Liu Kang and takes part in the MK:Deception tournament as a way of making himself feel the pain, so he becomes more of a reckless person and therefore reckless warrior. And his recklessness causes him to turn his back on his former allies like Sonya, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Kitana, and even Bo Rai' Ch and none of them understand. Kung sort of begins to LEAN towards evil but not necessarily becoming totally engulfed by it.

Yeah, of course Kung Lao should come back!
His story could be something like him relaxing for a short while after he kills Shang Tsung, then when Raiden tells him about the DK's return he could defend his title as somewhat-Mortal Kombat champion and kick some Dragon King butt!

But Kung Lao didnt win the actual Mortal Kombat Tournament, he just defeated the threats to the realm. I would like to see him back, but I doubt he will return as only 3 MK:DA character are left and I reckon theyll be one female and two evil guys.

Totally. They won't have him become the hero of the story and then just leave. It is illogical!!!!!!!!!!!

Then again... a little dude's head popping out the corner of tv screen and screaming TOASTY! in a high voice isn't logical either.

I would like to see Kung Lao back. Mortal Kombat always needs a soldier of the light to be the frontman and right now Kung Lao is the closest that fits that image of goodness and purity. As for his storyline I too would like you see him change and become darker. After the death of Liu Kang, Kung Lao might realize that the earthrealm is being too defensive against attacks from other realms. I could see Kung Lao on anger and hatred, go after his enemies rather than them come to his doorstep. Losing a brother or close friend is a tramatic thing to endure. And it will force the strongest of men to make rash descions.I would also like to see some "sin" on Kung Lao. Maybe an unnesscary killing or perhaphs even an act of villiany. He shouldn't turn evil.Maybe a sort of anti-hero like the punisher.
