Yeah I agree that the ranking system suks big and that some people, who are skilled and need to be there, arent there because of the flaws in the ranking system.
The ranking system should be based like any normal fighting game ranking system, which means you get points according to the rank position of your opponent.
This means that, if you beat a top 10 player, you get many points, but if you beat a very low rank player you get almost no points. Also, if you get beaten by a someone with a higher rank, you wont lose as much points as losing to someone with a lower rank. This would prevent the top 10 players to play versus low ranks and make them wanna play other top rank players.
But sadly this is not the case in Mortal Kombat ranking.
In the current MK ranking, you get just as many points for beating a newbie as you get for beating a top player, which makes most people wanna face low ranks.
Once you enter the top 8, you only get 1 point per win (whether you play vs a low rank or a high rank) which makes it almost impossible to be nr1, as there is almost 300 points difference between nr8 and nr1 (so to be nr1, the nr8 should have to do 300 wins in a row)
I havent checked out yet how many points you lose when losing a battle (I think its 50 or 60 points)
Lets hope the developpers will make a change in the current ranking system

i took out tapout77, i beat him he quit, challanged him again, accepted, said he quit cause i picked bo, so i took n/s beat him he quit, accepted again, i took kobra beat him again, and did the fatal so fast it did the disco sound, and now he has 10 losses and his rating went from 2200 to 1400... 1 down 4 to go.

oh my god! i just played one of my frends, Dante Never Die, we played chess kombat. i took all his players except his leader then killed his leader. at the scoreboard screen 'connection quality is inadequate' i didnt get the win he didnt get the loss. was it him or was it the stoopid broaband? its SO annoyin wen that hapens!

By the way, tell your friend he has to change his Kobra tactics, he likes to low fireball and throw too much. Its a really sad player to face, with whom I had little fun

i just played 'Somehowe' he was lui kang and im not joking - the ONLY move he EVA did was the low fireball, the ONLY move! and ONE move, that set u up for a juggle (that overhead swing one) and that was IT. he won the match in the cheapest way possible. he then tried being kira and shujinko and got his ass kicked, and then he left. Dante is a nice guy thow. he is frendly wen u speak to him, but wat he did earlier is not like him

Yes I met Somehow and I beat his cheapness 5 times a row and left (he used more than those 2 moves on me though, might have been 4, leg sweep and throws included) If you ever come accross Tall Boy UK, you will see the same.
The guy uses Kobra and only does 2 moves: low fireball and swirl with his sticks and from time to time he comes to grab.
3 moves over and over, always backstepping to repeat his moves.
These are the players I want to beat so hard they dont repeat their cheapness, but alas they keep doing it as it is the only thing they got to win

Hey NavalAlloy, I have no idea why fistdacuffs rejected your challenge - you would think that after SIXTY-FIVE HUNDRED GAMES (6,500), he wouldn't be so picky over who he fights. 6,500??? I think you'd have to average, like, around 80 matches A DAY since the game was released to hit that number!

theres tons of possiblities to get that many wins. best way i can think is have some of your friends go on and just let you beat them like 200 times everyday. easy way to get wins.

the wins mean nothing, its wins in a row that got him there, he has to be somewhere around 1000 in a row more prob.

my question is. if redsaleen u have two accts or more and kuntpow has two or more maybe he might have two or more. i would like to take a poll and see what is the avg. accts per person 2 to 3 cars a household same for mkd hmmmm. one to fight with one to rank with so in essence maybe someone could already be up to 10,000 games? who will be the first to 10,ooo games? or 10,ooo wins?

i hav 2 accounts, combined with dissconnects, i hav about 7000 games played.... mkmaster has 2 accounts too i no.
