How much time would it take to do real-time (the regular character models doing stuff outside of their ordinary move set) endings as opposed to FMV endings?
Assuming it was for this game and that every character had an ending.
If you took away the crappy, robotic-like movement, then real-time was no problem in the arcade and N64 versions of MK4 to me. One of the best subtle things about it is that you were in the same outfit that you kicked the boss' ass in (only applies to N64).
Now, with motion capture and the graphical models of MK today, I would gladly take real-time if I didn't want still pictures. It can't take that much time. Just look at Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2. I know that example was a tad crappy, but you get my point.

Since the animations would be unique to the endings (most likely), to avoid the "robotic feel" to them, that's a lot of movement mapping to do for something that isn't all that much necessary.
I think most people are satisfied with the simplistic image / text endings that they offer, it garauntees more content.
Think about it, if they did do this, then we'd have another mortal kombat 4 on our hands. I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't want the game if they went back to that :\

Personally I like MK4, and i thought the FMV endings were good.. I know maybe some people hated it.. But i thought you deserved a video not jus text after beating the boss.. It was cool they did it in MK4.. and i'm sure they can improve it in future games and correct the flaws people pointed.. I dun get why u get more content from text? I mean the video can have all the information and have it show visually rite? i dunno, I'd like more info too, but it'd be cool if we could have both ya! A good video with lots of info.. lol.. hope it happens in my lifetime..
Cheers

I guess some people just would rather have glitter than a hammer. Anything can be improved, the FMV's of MK:DA proved that, but it doesn't change the fact that it would kill the disc space.
With FMV endings we'd have no conquest mode most likely. I'd rather have a game to play. That's just me though, cheers to different strokes for different folks.

well I wasnt satisfied with text endings because it wasnt something to shoot for. yes it was MKs style back in 2d but in 3d your dancing with the big boys again and you gotta show it. When i played DA (got it in the summer) I didnt even beat the game with every character because I had already seen the endings online. It would be harder to put the endings on a comp. for one thing and its also just fun to watch a fmv over reading a card. in tekken tag and tekken 4 i watched their fmvs over and over (yes even the law and paul kick each others balls one) because they were interesting and showed you the story alot of the time without saying a word. one thing that i really liked about tekken 4 was how they had slideshows in between fights and then a video at the end. this made it a perfect blend and didnt leave you thinking that there was no story throughout the time you were fighting and that the only story was at the end.

We NEED FMV endings!!!
In MK4, for the technology at this time, it was totally awesome! Imagine with the modern MK technology...WOW! MK Deception FMV endings would be so...so...crazy!
MKDA with the cheap texts and images was very disappointing to me.
I wish FMV endings in MK Deception.

I think they can do both pictures and movie endings.
They can show us pics for each character's ending while the narrator is telling us his/her ending and at the same time there'll be very short movies between the pics.
In this case, there won't be any long movies taking a lot of space from the CD's data anymore and the endings will be understandable too.

I was pretty disapointed in DA when I first beat the game and it didn't have cinematics in the ending. I think that it definitly adds on to the whole feel and it gives more satisfaction in beating the game. I hope they dont do it again in Deception, but I'm pretty sure they are. Either way, its still my favorite game, I just wish they gave more to the people who are into the story

bottom line....the text/rendered pictures endings are superior to fmv endings in one huge way...you can tell more of the story through this way then fmv endings......plus fmv's cost money people...as has been pointed out many times...something midway doesn't have a lot of....and i hate when people compare m.k. to tekken......as i've said before...yes...tekken does have fmv's for their endings...but aside from the main chractars (heihachi, kazuya, jin) the endings are mindless, stupid, and a sack of retardation in 3d....mortal kombat is very much story driven for the most part...so it makes since that when you finish the game to get as much of the story out of it as possible....as i said before...text endings do that much better than fmv's....plus tekken is not dealing with nowhere near the content that m.k. is right now....Konquest, Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat, plus the regular fighting mode...tekken has nowhere near that much on their plate.....

I agree, I rather have more conent and no cinematics at the end than the other way around but you cant gimme that bull of Midway being broke, MK:DA did great last year, and it doesnt cost that much money to do the movie sequences, if they looked hard enough they can find many people that will do it for small pay and on top of it they can do it themselves
